Default '93 Civic del Sol - What do you think of my new ride??

Hey guys,

About 4 days ago I purchased a 1993 Honda Civic del Sol. It has 3,000 miles on a B18C1 VTEC out of an Integra GS-R. It has Skunk2 intake and intake manifold. It has heat-wrapped headers, and a Yonaka Motorsports full cat-back exhaust system. It sounds very, very good. The interior is in very good shape considering how old the car is. Obviously, the car is very, very fast. I was just wondering, what do you guys recommend my next upgrade be on the car? Let me know, thanks guys.

Nice car... welcome.

IMHO I would take off the 17's and sell them for some 15's or 16's, unless you like the rims then keep em. And I would lose the wing, it just doesnt look right with the car. Other than that the car looks clean

If you lose the rims you could upgrade to some koni/GC's to lower it just a tad. I would also invest into some security.

If I owned the car, I would get rid of that spoiler first, but thats just my 2 cents. If you like it, then keep it and rock on! Second, Id do some motor work. Even though your motor setup may be quick, its definatley not "obviously very, very fast." Have you or the previous owner ran any 1/4 mile runs with it? I would also take some time and hide some of the wires in your engine bay. Its clean already, and if you got rid of some of the clutter, it would look amazing!

$6000 you spent on it????? That seems a little too much, in my opinion, for a del sol that only has a gs-r swap in it and i/im/h/e.

I like samba green sols......I think you should trash the spoiler and get smaller rims. Otherwise...Very clean.

nice del sol...though I little pricey. I paid 3k for my 94 del sol SI completely stock. I bet that gsr is a blast. I just swapped a jdm b16 into mine and it's pretty fun. Like everyone else said, lose the spoiler for sure. The rims don't look bad but 16's might look better.

I like it. The wing is not my taste, but if it's yours then rock it. That color is such a vibrant OEM color, it's awesome.

Anywho, what I'd recommend as the next steps:

Do some good reading, take your time and make a good plan, then execute it in a time-wise and cost-effective way.

-Anything in the looks department is purely up to you. The patrons of this site tend to lean towards JDM, but if you want to be unique in any way, I suggest you only use it like a spice.
-Security in layers is a must for Hondas with engine swaps, so I would suggest accordingly that you get some.
-Certain branches to look into could be supercharging or turbocharging, which included in the research should be some good reading on how to prepare your engine for the added stress and power.
-You could look into nitrous, but IMO that's iffy and undependable in spirited doses, but hey, it's your car, and if you only race hard occasionally, why not?
-Then there's the serious N/A mods. You've got to do your research, and balance the upgrades well, but in the end, you could have a very powerful engine.
-If handling is what you want, you could look into some suspension upgrades, ie: Shocks/springs, tie/tower bars, sway bars, new suspension bushings, lighter wheels mated with some good tires, etc.

There's serious ways and modest ways to modify your car. It's up to you to figure out what you want to do to it, so I can only really suggest some good reading, and a well-prepared battle plan. Good luck with your Sol, I hope everything goes well!

Except for the wing and rims the appearance is stock.

To the OP, get some security and then build the motor. You may think its fast, but really its probally not.

Security, security and more security. That's the first thing you should do then get rid of the rims and wing.

if he's used to sohc d15's then it probably does seem very very fast. I luv my gizzer in my 96 del sol si (black btw) I dont like the green for the simple fact that del sol's kinda look like little toy cars and that just emphasizes it.

Yes, it is not just 3,000 miles since the swap was performed. It is 3,000 miles after a COMPLETE rebuild, and I mean complete. Brand new crank, all new lower piston rod bearings, THRUST washer bearings, new upper piston rod bearings, new piston, new rod, new rings, every gasket in the motor is brand new, new Honda clutch, throw out bearing, new timing belt, new water pump and thermostat, new oil pump, etc. This is why I do not feel that $6,000 was a rip-off. And I do like the black rims, but you guys would go smaller?

I dont think you got ripped off now that I know that. That sounds like an excellent deal to me. And the rims are all about preference. If you like them, stick with them. I am going to go with 16's on my del sol though.

Nice sol...I've seen very few spoilers that I like on them other than OEM or Mugen...if you like it, keep it.

How about driving it around for awhile until you get to know what you like/dislike about it then make mods.
