93/94 Del Sol Si Wont Start
Ok, I have a 93/94 Del Sol Si that I picked up not running. I have put a lot of work into it and know that mechanically it is sound. Compression, plugs, fuel, timing, timing belt are all fine.
I am getting closer I think to getting it running but at the same time I have a strange problem. I have installed the new relay and fuel pump since they were bad. Those parts seem to be working now but I think that I still need to replace the battery because the fuel pump turns on and off like it should but the check engine light still stays on. From what I have read that will happen if there is not enough power for the ECM to run properly. Is that correct?
But what is really strange is that when I tried to start the engine I had a fuse under the hood pop when I turned the key all the way. Turning the key on everything appears to be fine. And the fuse in question is fine. It is the fuse labeled "Backup 7.5 soutien." <U>It only pops when I try to start the car</U>. After that the fuel pump, radio, and the clock all stopped working. I replaced the fuse and everything is working again. But I didn't try to start the car again assuming that all it would do is pop the fuse again. Any idea what is going on here?
Why is that fuse popping when I try to start the car and what is going on with the ECM and check engine light?

First, with a good fuse 32 (BACKUP) installed, retrieve the CEL code:

You also may want to remove the passenger kick panel and inspect the ECU and its connectors and wires for burning associated with a short.

Re: 93/94 Del Sol Si Wont Start (RonJ@HT)
Ok, I got a different result today! Sorta...
I replaced the fuse and realized that I had left my jumper to read the CELs in. So after removing it I turned the key on. Presto, the fuel pump and CEL turn on and then off like they should. But when I tried to start the car again, I blew the same stupid fuse.
Replaced the fuse and turned the car on and off a couple times to let the ECM try to look for any problems now that I know it works and tried to get the codes. But when I jumper the wires all it does is make the CEL stays on solid. It never flashes and that light is the one I should be able to read the codes from right?
The reason I ask is I read the how-to link and this one...
http://www.autozone.com/az/cds...s.htm
The Autozone one says that I read the codes from a single led on the ECM
So whats up with this?

Ok, with a little more research I now know my ECM is fine and no codes!
So, Does anyone know what all is connected to the " Backup 7.5 soutien" under the hood that keeps blowing? Cause if I can figure it out I can start the car!
