92 hatch sways and rocks like a boat
i have a 92 hatch with a swap i just got it on the road and when i go 35mph or more and the wheel turns just a hair it feels like a boat rocking left and right side to side, but anything slower its fine. what would it be? hub bearings? i havent check the wheel while it jacked in the air to see if theres play, or is it the sway bars? or the end links? can anyone help me out, i feel like im gonna crack the car, i cant even take it on the high way

are your wheels balanced? i slammed a pothole a few weeks ago, it knocked a wheel weight off of the rim causing it to be off balanced enough to loosen the lugs and create a world of problems for me... maybe you need to go get the tires balanced

yea, check them, i used to break them all the time in my b16a swapped ek coupe, itd buck like a horse and a i knew right away...
however,, idk if youre familiar with EKs... but the upper driver mount, (shaped like a tee-pee lol) always breaks and causes the same feeling as a broken axle...
but on EGs the mounts dont typically break...

yea, i dont see what else it could be, lmk if that fixes the problem, and while youre under there check the ball joints, everythings tight, check all your mounts (check the rubber inserts for any tears), make sure the lugs are good, the wheels balanced... aside from that, im not sure what else it could be

ok i wouldnt worry about the mounts then... check upper and lower, but it seems like in this case itd be more likely for it to be the lower

how about a new alignment? when i first got the car from the guy he told me it needs an alignment bad, i just drove it again and i swear it feels like a boat, the wheel moves when i let go of it and the response is slow and then it rocks left and right, theres play in the wheel, like its slow

Im not sure man. It sounds to me like you've got a combination of things going. That axle you spoke of earlier, I think, definetly has something to do with it, along with your sway bars. If you take it in for an alignment, I think the mechanics there will give you a better idea.

You can find good deals on ebay 5 pc. strut bar kits. Made my 95 hatch feel like a new car along with new coilovers. Almost no body roll at all and makes steering feel way better too.

the 70 series sidewall will produce a ton of lateral movement.
diff size tires on the same axle will create an unusual feeling, and then having a completely different size/mix on the rear as well.
i say half your problems would be solved with a decent wheel/tire package

but theres play in the wheel, not loose play like theres empty space, but its like the steering is late and then it rocks like a boat
