When the engine is warmed up, when I floor it, right when vtec engages it feels weak. It redlines slower when vtec engages. Now when I dont let it warm up and the engine is cold, I try to redline it, it feels like it should. It kicks in strong again. Its not the o2 sensor its not on a full loop, I changed it recently. And I think theirs a little oil leak coming from the base of the vtec solenoid. Any ideas? Thanks guys

Sounds like an oil pressure issue. when it warms up the oil gets thinner. what weight oil are u using? the filter in the oring inbtween the head and vtec base might be clogged also, if its leaking there it needs to be changed anyway. im assuming that u change the oil every 3k miles and it isnt in need of 1 now.

I use mobil 1, I changed the oil 1 month ago. aswell as the fuel filter, air filter, o2 sensor, distributor cap and rotor, ignition coil, distributor oring, iridium spark plugs, valve cover gasket and spark plug tube seals with an oil change. I did however broke one of the valvecover bolts in the head so I pluged up the valvecover bolt hole with a rubber cork and the valve cover is leaking very very little through the gasket. I think the gasket was cheap as well as the valvecover bolt bushings. No cells either. How can I fix this oil pressure problem? Can I just clean the vtec solenoid? How do I do that? Its a d16z6 sohc by the way. Thanks guys

O yeah, I felt alot of air coming out the valvecover, where you fill oil from the oil cap. I never felt it before.

Anytime I've had issues with Vtec it's been lack of oil/pressure. Especially if it engages and disengages while in vtec. Almost feels like sputtering initially until the level is just too low then it does nothing.
