92 DX Sedan axle help

92 DX Sedan axle help
i was helping a buddy of mine install a new axle on his 92 dx and he told me when we finished that the axle was from a 93... well we got done and now the car wont go at all... he claims the axles were the same size but i think i see about a inch or so difference... should it work? did we forget something... thanks for help

it should be the same....are you sure that the splines on the end that goes into the transmission are fully in and is the splines on the other end tight on the hub assembly? Check these two things. If they are then i dont know what it is because all d series axles are the same except for the different spline counts on the older (88-91) and newer (92-95) civics. Correct me if im wrong...

yeah you may be right, i didnt get there untill he had already started so maybe he overlooked the splines going into the tranny, thanks

Ok, we had the same problem with my friend's 92 hatch. You didn't get the axle all the way into the housing. The lock clip didn't click in and because of the way the tranny and diff are setup, it won't go unless both are in. So try and get it all the way in and it'll be fine.
