Default 92 CX tranny onto a 96 d16y8?

Yup, will it fit? I have a 96 EX and the tranny is on its way out. My buddy clay (negrocoupe) happens to have a CX tranny with 130k on it and a relatively new clutch. My question is will this tranny bolt up? Also, is this a shorter geared tranny or longer? I don't really care if it long or short, I just want something that doesnt sound like metal on metal violence coming from the transmission anymore.

Yes it will bolt up and you're gonna regret the longer gears.

You will regret it. Cx gears are longer than Dx gears.

CX /VX
1st-----3.250
2nd-----1.761
3rd-----1.066
4th-----0.853
5th-----0.702
Final Drive---3.250

Gear- RPM1*- RPM2- Speed @ 6900 RPM
1st -0 -6900 - 45.63
2nd -3739 -6900 - 84.21
3rd -4177 -6900 - 139.12
4th -5521 -6900 - 173.86
5th -5679 -6900 - 211.25

This is assuming you have stock 185/65/14's.

Now you can tell people your SOHC is geared for 211 mph rofl.

Why do you need to swap out your tranny? i would not do a cx tranny cause like everyone said "you'll regreat it later."

I once put a 1.5 DX tranny on a D16Y8 before and I thought something was wrong with engine itself because it was such a snail, but it was just the long geared tranny that made it seem that way..

EX/SI tranny is your best bet after y8 tranny

CX tranny will suck, on z6 you can hit 45 (48) 1st gear, 80 2nd, I don't even know what it will hit in third due to the extended rev limit of a z6.

It will get you from point a to b no low end at all
