92 Civic - Where is the main relay?
Trying to find where the fuel pump relay is on a 1992 Honda Civic Ex 1.6L FI 4 Cyl because on autozone its showing me different relay then what i'm looking at
right now and if you can show me a picture of where it is at, that would be awesome.because for some reason the car will not start up only when it wants to but when i put starting fluid in the intake sometimes it works(thinkn it could be the fuel pump but who knows) dont know if it relates to it(fuel pump relay or idle control valve) my car keeps idling when in park Neutral and sometimes when im at a stop sign so

Re: Need Help!
The relay for a 92-95 is on driver side near fuse box. It's Greyish in color. The 96-00 Is on passside and is black in color. Hopfully you can see autozone picture and pick the grey one.
This will help you... http://www.d-series.org/forums/diy-f...-95-civic.html

Re: Need Help!
or pop the cover off grab a hand soldering iron and resolder the the broken connections. If you can't do it find someone that can solder and have them fix it takes les than 10 min to do

Does your cel go out as it should when the ignition switch is turned on (not cranking on but just so's your instrument lights go on-cel should come on and then go out=normal. I had an issue where my car would sometimes start and sometimes not, cel would stay on=no start finally fixed it lmk if yours is doing the same.

Re: Need Help!
The temperature changes cause the cold joints (poorly made solder joints) to crack, which while not visible, makes it where electricity doesn't flow.
Here's a video that shows how to solder and why to do it the correct way.

You don't need expensive equipment, a basic 15-20 watt iron and roll of 1/64th inch solder will do most of what you need, and can be bought for under $10. A soldering station with selectable heat, and a desoldering iron and some basic tools like wire snips and tweezers, a lamp will be a nice setup for chipping ECUs and stuff of that nature. Radioshack actually sells a nice soldering station that selects between 20 and 40 watts, and their desoldering iron works well too. Both are about $20 each. Or you can get a Hakko soldering iron for couple hundred...

Before you play with the main relay check it's ground at the coolant thermostat housing. Clean the bundle of wires bolted to the thermostat housing. Very common problem.
