Default 92 civic transmission

I have a 92 eg hatch, and lateley in the morning, my car doesn't like to shift out of second. After I drive it a little over half a mile, it makes a loud noise (sounds like when you drive through a big puddle) and then it finally shifts. It will shift fine the whole rest of the day, I only have problems with it in the morning, and my transmission fluid is fine. Anyone have any ideas???

Thanks

Lisa

Yeah. Whatever it is, it's getting worse. Hopefully a power flush will help it.

Is your trans an automatic or manual?

Not sure if this is true or not but I always heard that flushing a transmission can sometimes do more harm than good. I always heard to just change the fluid rather than flushing it. Like I said, this is something that I heard not knowing if there is any truth in it or not.

u would think it would be an auto, since u can shift outta second whenever you want with a manual.

It's an auto. I heard that auto transmissions in hondas are crap anyway. I wish it was a 5 speed. I almost got one, but it's too expensive to switch over to that...too much stuff to buy. Maybe I'll change the fluid this weekend and see what it does.

I mean if it still doesn't fix the problem then maybe look into getting it flushed. But I just figure try the simpler and cheaper fix first.

I like the idea of changing the fluid first...maybe that will temporarily help until I can save the money to get it flushed.

I also have a question about this forum...how do you become an active member of this thing? I can't find where you subscribe to it.

yep, no problem.

If I remember correctly, it used to be like 9 days or something. You might be able to find some info on it if you did some searching but I'm not sure.

Well, now my reverse is going up. It's like it gets stuck, and when it finally goes into gear, it goes "clunk" really loud, and the whole car shakes, then it's fine. Maybe I should consider saving up for a new transmission.

you might want to do that. I would say take it into a good transmission shop and have them look at it unless you can take it out yourself and know what to look for. Maybe at the same time you could do a auto-manual swap, that would probably be ideal. Don't know what your plan are but that what I would try to do.
