92 civic running rich, smoking from exhaust
92 civic, stock engine running rich, doesnt burn oil or water, compression is good on all 4 cylinders. Changed o2 sensor, map sensor, FPR, no clogged filter new plugs and wires, recently did a head job, all valves are goodm new seals. Car runs great smooth idle, but hesitation on acceleration and smoke out the exhaust, and low MPG, i can smell the fuel out the exhaust, the only mod so far is preformance muffler and bigger wheel tire combo. It smokes if i rev it period not just driving. The ECU isnt throwing any CEL, tried this morning swaping out the distributor, but that was a mistake, car wouldnt accelerate past 45, ill switch it back after work...... any help planning to move soon and need the car running smooth...
Thanks

Re: 92 civic running rich, smoking from exhaust (crazyguy)
Stock ECU from a 93 lx, my original got a littel wet and i had starting problems, i plugged this one in and the car started no problems. it runs strong the hesitation in acceleration goes away at high RPMs, but still smokes, i was thinking it might be the TPS on the TB, to be honest i rebuilt this entire motor and im running out of ideas

funny thing is that about 6 months ago i replaced the fuel pump, the car was having fuel delivery issues so i just swapped it, afterward i found the real problem, the pump primes fine and as far as i can tell is pumping normally, you think that it might be over pumping?

Measuring the fuel pressure is relatively straightforward so it's worth looking into:

yeah, after work ill put the other distributor back on, trust me that swap was a bad idea i didnt think i was gonna make it here, also i tune up my idle and unplug my TPS, see if that helps if i have to ill swap that sensori got 2 spares. Other wise i guess im gonna have to live with the fact that i burn fuel and my car has **** for acceleration in low gears, when i get up into 3rd and gas it literally it rockets forward smooth and no bucking. I think this is my last post for the day so any help any other things that i can check out let me know because i am out of ideas.
thanks

well i havent made any progress on figuring out the problem, but it definely needs to be fixed, i cant have this goin on. I havent done a proper fuel pressure test or checked the TPS which will have to wait the gasket was on back order and i wont be here until tommorrow at the soonest. I found that if i ease on the throttle it gets smooth, yet slow acceleration, but it still smokes a little. So for now that what im rolling with.
any other suggestions please, this is annoying the hell out of me.
