Default 92 civic racing tuneup

Hey, Just got myself a 92 civic hatchback. Want to start racing but am new to cars. It currently hsa a b18c1 engine with a b16 head. i bought it with the engine so i dont know what cams etc. is in there right now and i dont plan on opening it to see until someone i know is there that could help me fit everything on properly. so until then i have a week or so to work on the car myself. What should i start to change. i plan on changing the oil/filter, changing spark plugs/wires, changing the coolant. and that is all i can think of right now. Does anyone have any advice of what else i should do? and what brand of spark plug wires i should use. Also i was told water cools down the engine better then 50/50 coolant and i can get something called redline which would be better. can anyone confirm this?
