92 Civic - overheating problem and engine rebuilding question
Hey H-T, I've never actually made an introduction, just lurked. I bought a honda about 2 months ago, second car, I'm 18 years old. It's a 1992 Civic DX EH2 (?) Hatch. 110km's on the body and motor, old lady drove it before me, I paid 800$. I'm not sure if I got a good deal or not. Shortly after I brought it home, I put it up on a hoist and noticed that the bottom of the block has some oil on it, noticed there's a new oil pan so I just assumed it the the bottom seal and was going to keep an eye on it. It doesn't leak very much oil, fast forward 2months and my car's temp gauge starts to act funny, so I bring it to the shop, replace the thermostat, cooling fan relay, rad cap. Runs fine for a day, does the same thing and starts smoking a lot, white, so I knew the head gasket was gone, so I've ordered parts and hoping to tackle it this weekend. Sorry for the little bit of a story, but my question is, is there any way possible my car over heated due to a fan issue? When I put my key to on, the fan kicks on, when the car it's above normal temp, the fan doesn't kick on. I've replaced the relay, what else could it be? Sensor? Is there anything I should upgrade to the motor/look out for? It's the stock motor. Thanks guys.
Also, is the eh the canadian version of the EG? If I order parts for an EG will they fit on my EH?
Here's a crappy picture of the car;
