92 civic not running right!!!! please help!!!
Hey guys new to forums and new to civics in general. Lol any ways my names josh and I just bought a 92 civic sedan with a d15b7. It has headers and cold air intake. It is a 5 speed manual transmission as well. Nothing else that I know of. Anyways... I have been searching threads and posts and google for my problem but can find nothing. I am getting spit and sputter only when I get the engine to 5 thousand rpms and up. It starts and idled perfect and runs great until I get it that high in rpm. Weird thing is that it is throwing absolutely no codes. Now after it starts sputtering at that speed it bogs at any throttle I give it and have to put it in neutral and kill and restart the engine. Then its fine. I am clueless. This car is not vtec. Any help guys would be greatly appreciated. Oh and it has less power some days then others too. I know it doesn't have much in the first place lol. But I really got to figure this out. Please guys please!!

Do you know when a complete tuneup was last performed on the car?
I.E.... Spark plugs, wires, distributor cap and rotor, Fuel filter, fuel injection cleaning. Usually when it only happens at higher RPM that is an indication that ether the fuel or ignition can no longer keep up with the demand. I f not that it could also be something clogging the exhaust path.... dirty catalytic converter/crushed pipe..etc..etc...
Should have a compression test run on the engine as well just to verify the health of the engines compression.

The only time I ever had that problem someone had put the wrong ECU in my car. If it's not fuel related, it ALMOST sounds like your car is in 'limp mode', but that's just my uneducated guess.

yeah it has all new plugs and wires and cap and rotor. new fuel pres reg, and fuel pressure is in spec as well. it has new fuel filter as well ( 1 month old) now could it be off time? and i checked the ecm is a p06 which the car comes with stock so i know thats okay. and there is no check engine light.

If it's running fine at lower RPM and only acting up at high RPM it could be many things. You are going to have to eliminate components one by one to see which one is causing the problem. After plugs, cap, rotor, wires, fuel filter and air filter are definitely good I would start replacing ignition components first and then fuel system components. If you can get it on a decent engine analyzer you'll save some of the guess work. Good luck!
