92 Civic Loses power while driving.
Hello,
I have a 92 Honda Civic DX (Manual Transmission). Just recently started just loosing all power randomly, while driving or idling. When I am driving it starts making a sound almost like an engine knock but only when it loses power. This will last for a few seconds to more than thirty seconds. Sometimes it will shut the car down. Please let me know if anyone has had this problem and knows how to fix it.

Re: 92 Civic Loses power while driving.
i had the same symptoms with my civic d15b2 with d16z6 injection rail. i replaced my ignition distributor and it was fixed.
The ignition distributor is one of the more common parts to break. due to its rotating arm the contacts can worn out or the internal coil can die.
i don't guarantee a fix if you replace it. But it isn't that expensive. i think i bought a new one for 50 euro. It is easy to replace just don't forget to time the spark. you wil need a timing gun( i think that is the name) or any garage can do it for you.
my car didn't give any cel codes. but i use a custom tune where some codes are turned off. If there is a error code it will most likely be the oxygen sensor.
other part that can give this malfunction are the injectors. if you run dual point injection and 1 injector is bad you will lose power. if you run a injection rail this is not likely.
it can be a bad connection to you fuel pomp. if the fuel pomp really broke down it would probably not start at all.
the engine knock sound is a indication of a ignition problem.

Re: 92 Civic Loses power while driving.
I so not know what my engine is other than the 1.5 L. How do I find out? I have not checked for codes yet because it's hard to get anywhere (like autozone). I have just recently changed my distributor cap, arm, all the spark wires, and spark plug wire. I am wondering if it could be partly my clutch because the sound.

Did you set the ignition timing? Rotor = arm? NGK spark plugs properly gapped?
