Default 92 civic hatch problem possibly I am not sure.

So i have a 92 civic CX hatch awaiting engine transplant and I have been wiring up all the stuff i ripped out of the dash and such and starting re-assembly so that sorta sets the tone of where i am basicly.

The problem is If i have the engine harness one the left hand side of the engine bay along with the other harness on the right hand side of the engine bay disconnected, when i turn the key to the #2 position should the gauge cluster lights light up? battery/cel/all of them ?? or will these items not light up.

Currently when i turn the key nothing lights up... Granted I know the invisible engine isn't going to crank over, but I am curious if any lights are suppose to light up if the engine harness is not connected to the engine?

Alot of those lights are dummy lights meaning its just checking to make sure that stuff it working properly and also serves as a bulb check for other sitiuations. I am not positive cause I have never tried to turn the key hot while there was no engine but I imagine that nothing would light up but that is just a guess.

SRS, and Check engine lights are both required to turn on at keyturn II (technical term made up by yours truly), just to let inspectors know that they are functioning, and would turn on, should there be a problem. I know several notification lights turn on for a brief moment in my car at keyturn II, but I don't really pay attention to them since it happens every time....

Long story short; seems normal to me that the lights may not light up if there's no engine, but maybe they should because they're not getting readings that everything's okay. I don't know. You wouldn't hurt anything if you test-fit the engine into the bay, hooked everything up, and tried it out, right? (don't forget to hook up the fuel line or you'll be smelling gas)

Besides, if there happens to be a problem, just start trouble-shooting from there.

Allright, i had the engine sitting next to the car, connnected wire harness, minus fuel line, no fuel in the tank, and fuel pump not connected. No lights

Srs has been removed.

When i put the key in, the beep beep beep dosent happen when you normally have the doors open with the key in...

No idea what the crap to do and getting very frustrated.

need some honda wire god to assist.

Thanks so much.
