92 civic hatch, drum to itr 5lug conversion questions
hi h-t, ive been trying to look around and get a clear answer on this, but if someone could chime in and let me know that would be great.
my issue is i have a 92 civic hatch (non abs) with drums. and i plan to swap itr 5 lug. now what im wondering is what brake lines will i need? i believe the front brake lines from my civic will bolt directly up to the 5 lug. but what about the rear?
do i need and brake lines from the itr set up? or will my civic drum brake lines work? i know one of the lines has to be changed, but which ones?
i do have integra e-brake cables(not installed). so the e-brake lines arent a issue.

you will want to match the rear hose's to the calipers you have so if using type r calipers you want type r flex hose .your drum line's won't work the end is very different

As the above guys said, the hard lines will work, no problem. The soft lines in the front will bolt to the calipers in the front, but you won't be able to bolt the soft-line brackets to the knuckle unless you change to integra rubber lines because the gap between the bracket on the civic rubber line and the integra knuckle is too big. Civic drum rubber lines in back will not work at all. Upgrading your MC to the 91 EX MC is important bc with the larger calipers on the car and the stock MC, pedal travel is ridiculous.

The soft lines in the front will bolt to the calipers in the front, but you won't be able to bolt the soft-line brackets to the knuckle unless you change to integra rubber lines because the gap between the bracket on the civic rubber line and the integra knuckle is too big. .
im thinking i might as well just grab goodridge steel braided brake lines for front and rear so i wont have to deal with it later.
now does it matter if they are civic with disk or integra brake lines? it has the same part number.

with the 40/40 proportioning valve does it matter if one is abs or not since i dont have abs? thanks in advance

The plastic bracket on the goodridge lines slides along the brake line rather than fixed at a certain point like the oem rubber bracket and line, so it makes sense that the Goodridge part number would be the same for both. 4040 valves are nonabs rear disc parts only.

well im going to buy the stainless steel lines for integra. anything else i should look for or change out?

I can't recall if they are or not, but make sure the stainless braided lines you get are coated and DOT approved if it's a street car. Not so much for legality as safety. DOT approved obviously will mean they're tested to be reliable. The coating keeps dirt and stuff from getting between the weaves of the stainless and abrading the inner layer, which will eventually cause a leak and brake loss.
I think I have StopTech or I can't remember the brand, but lines meant to be safe for a daily driver are not common.

its alive!
man didnt want to bring back from the dead but ...
is it nescessary to change the master cylinder? or will it be ok wit stock civic MC?
