ground the red wire out.. does the dash light up?
test #2
is the contanuity to ground on the black wire
test #3
is red/black getting 12v?
if you have a mulitlmeter but don;t know how to use it i will help you more

do that!
SiR Cluster lights up amber and looks better.... but reads in Kms (not to hard to adapt)
but you need to fix you wiring first.

Are you sure the bulbs work? Alot of times when you buy used clusters offline you may not even GET bulbs. I'm sure thats an obvious check but ya never know. Good luck troubleshooting! I hate electrical problems.

Ok. So I have a 94 CX. I swapped in an EX cluster with tach. Two problems, one is that the cruise control light comes on when it is time to shift, im assuming because of the old shift light, but there not in the same spot. Second, the tach is not working properly. The needle doesnt start to move until im atleast to 1500-2000 rpm. When I shut the car off tonight, the needle went the opposite direction and went all the way under the little black pin that sits at zero. Now when it starts it looks like its reeading fine but below the black needle. Obviously it gets stuck when it hits the needle but if I lift it over it keeps going. Could the tach be no good or unaligned somehow or do I have a wiring problem?????
