i have a 1992 honda civic cx with a d15b7 out of a 94 dx im just wondering what to do my car warms up and blows warm air but its not very warm at all and it takes a while to actually blow really warm air the only time it actually does is after about a half hour of driving which i dont do anymore since my job now is 10 minutes from home but i have noticed that the heater valve under the hood by the firewall has a very very small leak in it would that cause the issue? or the fact that the blower motor is so old? any idea are appreciated thanks

Fix the leak, possibly replace the thermostat, top off the system with coolant and then bleed it.

For starters, you are catching a serious cooling system issue in its early stages. Because its winter, you're lucky because the cold weather is helping keep your engine cool enough to survive.

The heater core gets water flow immediately when you move the thermostat into the heat zone. It comes directly from the block, bypassing the radiator. If no heat that means there is little to no water getting to your heater core. You will feel heat within five minutes, even in the cold of winter. If it takes nearly 30 minutes, no water is getting to the coolant.

My 2000 D16Y had a slow leak in the heater core (nightmare to remove dash). You have precisely described the symptoms, except I was getting passenger side wet carpet with coolant in it. 30 minutes to never to get any heat.

An upgrade I would look into is a fail safe thermostat (stays open if it fails). I lost an engine due to a stuck closed thermostat. Autozone sells Fail Safe for $18.
