Close. not exzactly.
There is alot of things that could cause your car to backfire. Usually running rich.
Running too rich can be caused by alot of things. I had a bad MAP-sensor which caused my car to backfire consistantly. Is your ECU throwing any codes? details details details.

Re: (VvPeachyvV)
Do you know how to check which code is being thrown?
If not, lemme know, and i'll tell you.
Also, I have a list of ECU codes, if you need it.

Im sure there is other H-T guys that have pics of the plug that you need to check for codes. If any of you guys have pics, please post them.
Otherwise I'll try to tell you where to look.
It is a little blue plug (not sure if color is the same from car to car) under the right side of your dash.. almost next to your glovebox, but further right.
There should be two plugs in a little green "rubber-holder-thingy" (I think that is the technical term) tucked up under your dash. Take the smaller of the two plugs out (has two holes on the front of the plug). Hopefully this all makes sense.
Take a piece of wire, or even a paper-clip and bend it into a U shape. Push the wire into both holes (some kinda circuit trick i think?).
Turn your key to the ON position (but dont start the car). Your "Check-light" should now be flashing. There is a series of long and short flashes. The long flashes are each worth ten. The short flashes are worth one each. So if you have two long flashes, and three short flashes.. you have a code 23. get it? you may have multiple codes.. the codes repeat over and over until you pull the wire out, so eventually you can add them up and figure-out your problem.
Does this bigass post make any sense to you?
*edit. There is a picture and a list at the top of the Forum page in the post that says "ECU codes for all" JDMLifstyles hooked it up i think.
