We have installed a DRAG gen.III turbo kit for one of our staff members into a 94 civic Si hb. The car is stock and it ran 13.2 on 14 inch slicks, with some other mods it will run 12's no problem. boost is at 8 lb.

How much boost can you safely run on a b18gsr with stock internals and the normal bolt-ons?

svps 12 sec hatch is running 10-12 at the most on a stock block. there is also other sohc turbo in the bay area from asr hitting 11.9 i think his best was but 12.0 all day on a stock block too.

there's a guy on this board named LiamXXX? that runs 14psi on his sohc daily, with NO internal modification. Says he only able to do this with careful tuning or something(?), don't know what careful tuning entails..but if he's telling the truth it's possible. But, I believe that figure is extremely hard to swallow, so don't expect anything over 10psi(max) unless you plan on modifing the internals.

I ran 10psi, on my Sohc, and killed my headgasket, and rings. at the time I was running rich, and had no detonation. I know some people have had success running that much boost on an SOHC, but I still feel the ringlands, and rods are simply too weak to with stand that much pressure.

What would be your solution to that problem, for my future info? Reinforce the cylinders(I think it's called resleeving), stronger rods? What about the headgasket, what would you recommend as a replacement - if one?

stock headgasket is proven to be the best. IMO, and some will disagree with this. In order to run 10-11psi, w/ stock stuff on the D16....you should look into a more efficient fuel set up...such as stand alone, or Hondata, and using a J&S safeguard wouldn't hurt either. you need a Oops device...

Yes, that part is clear to me. J&S safeguard to monitor detonation as well more fuel delivery to prevent leaning out during boost, hence detonation. But, what about resleeving(?) or stronger/heavier rods? Would that allow thesohc to boost more..say 11-15psi?

yes, and no, with a sleeved block, and forged pistons/rods, you can run 20+ psi...BUT you will Definately need to go stand alone after 15psi, to protect your investment. FMU set ups usually crap out around 12psi.

What are your plans for your B16(boost levels)? I noticed you will be getting the Hondata...2b right?

yeah, with the hondata 2b, 440 injectors, and 255lph fuel pump. I plan on running a "very" tuned 9psi on the street, and a Max of 11psi.
