92-95 JDM SiR sticking speedometer
Hey guys I have a 1995 Honda Civic DX with a JDM SiR (I believe) cluster, the one with the red numbers, white face, and kilometers per hour instead of miles. Anyway a few days ago my speedometer started sticking when I was accelerating, I thought nothing of it, and today it's started sticking for longer periods of time. For example I would be driving down the street and the needle would move consistently up until around 60 KPH, at which point it would stick for a few seconds, then continue moving up, stick again, then move up again. Now the needle sticks at 60 KPH no matter how fast I go, unless I drop down below 20 KPH.
I asked my dad who's a pretty good mechanic, but he doesn't know everything obviously, and he said there's some module in the cluster that went bad, and the only way to replace it is replacing the whole cluster, is he correct? The tachometer and odometer still work fine, it's just the speedo that's bad. I haven't had a chance to pull the cluster out yet since I'm not very mechanically inclined (lol) so I'm just gonna leave it til I figure out what to do (probably get a new cluster).
With that said, how much does an SiR cluster typically go for nowadays? I don't need the rare one with TCS and all that jazz. Also, would it just be plug and play? I assume it will be since I already have one lol.
Thanks,
Daniel
