Default 92-95 coupe what is a easy swap?

Right now I have a crx with a ZC swap that I did myself so mechanicaly, I know what I'm doing. I spent a lot of time researching that swap before I did it and I wan t to do the the same with this one. After Christmas I'm going to buy a Civic coupe or hatch...which ever is cheaper....

First. I would like to do a swap that does not involve a mount kit. Is the LS the only upgrade for the civic that doesn't need mounts?

Second. What is the best year and model to go with for a swap. I know that for CRX swaps, it was better not to get the DX because of the extra wiring needed. I don't know if there are simular concerns with the 5th gen's...

I'll keep searching cause I'm sure there are questions I haven't even thought of to ask.

Any B-series does not require a mount kit, and coupes were made only from 93 to 95 i believe...

So a ECU and a b16 or a b18 and I'm good to go? No mounts?

b18b, b18c, b16a all bolt right in.

the b18b swap i have was really easy, except all the little parts i had to get i didnt have and such it took about a week with waiting for parts. just make sure you have everything you need before you start unless you can have down time without a car.

youll need the axels, half shaft, wiring harness, shift linkage, shifter stabilizer bar, you might have to get the exhuast modified where the header meets the cat at a muffler shop. and if the engine is obd-1 it will make it alot easier.

Just as far as th eswap goes, what model type is going to give me the least amount of headeaches? VX, DX, SI etc?

Where do I get the axels from? I guess I would only need those if I got a different trany then the one that would already be in there. But i get the feeling that regardless of the model, a different trany would be necessary...?

So far, thanks for the help. I just hope I can build something that can take 5.0 stangs'...my CRX/ZC can keep up with them but can't beat em'...

if you put a b16a in your car youll need to use mounts from the following '00 si for the tranny, 94+ integra for the rear. and your stock mounts. this way everything lines up right. because if you dont the d16 mounts wont line up. and yes youll need axles for a b series swap. go to http://www.importautosalvage.com for everything and ask for Randy. They hooked me up.

well, to answer your question about which models, all '92 models (cx, dx, vx, si) all came hooked up with vtec wiring so you wont have to do the vtec wiring yourself, but if you get a 93-95, than only the vx and si (hatches) have the vtec wiring in them. but if you get a coupe, i belive the ex has the vtec wire already as well. now about the mounts, all b-series engine dont necessarily need aftermarket mounts (hasport, etc.) the only time you would have to use aftermarket mounts is if you're going h-series. anyways, you'll need the stock b-series mounts, and NO you cannot use your d-series mounts. if you order your engine from a place ( i recommend HMO, just because they do come complete with engine, mounts, j-spec wire harness, shift linkages, axles, tranny, etc.) they should have the original mounts included in the package, if not, mounts from any of the b-series should do. now about which b-series to do, well, they all should be plug and play if you get a 92 hatch, vx,si, or ex. but if you get something else from a different year, you'll have to directly wire the vtec wire. also you'll have to wire the knock sensor if you're running with a p30 or p72 ecu. you could get a chipped p28 if you dont want to wire the knock sensor. well hope this helps you out IM me if you got any question

Thanks for the info. I don't plan on going anything bigger then a B series so I'm glad the mounts won't be that much of a problem.

Do USDM LS motors also fall in to the mount difference catagory?

Some of the d series mounts do work. I think the 94 and 95 driverside mount works but the 92 and 93 dosn't because the bolt holes are slanted. Also, the stock passenger side tranny mount from the d series will work. Rear mount will need to be 94+ gsr.
