Default 92-'95 civic transmission same as '96-'00?

I'm not sure but I believe I read somewhere that the '92-'95 civic transmissions are the same as the '96-'00 transmissions. Is anyone able to confirm this? On car-part.com when I search for a transmission for an LX civic sedan 1998, it only does '96-'00 cars and no mention of cars from '92-'95. I know that the '88-'91 are cable actuated transmissions but aside from that, all D-series transmissions should bolt up to all d-series engines regardless of the year, using the same mounts and nearly everything (except for the whole cable actuated transmissions).

Short answer, yes.

Long answer, no.

For your purposes of finding another tranny, any 92-00 D-series manual transmission will mate up to a 92-00 D-series block and run.

When you get into the guts and gear ratios and sensors, then there're some discrepancies .... but for the most part they're completely interchangeable.

Can I get more info on the long answer? Does this discrepancy not matter if you're working with a M/T but matter for an automatic or something or are we just assuming M/T..? Also I thought the gear ratios for the DX/LX civic coupe/sedans were the same for '92-'00???

It's really small discrepancies. Like, only matters when you're cracking the trannies open and switching parts, or building a custom geared tranny (like I believe the 2nd gear on 92-95 is a different ratio than 96-00). If you want to know more about that, PM Bense on here. He's a tranny guru, and has a wide breadth of knowledge on the subject.

And where you'll run into problems is using auto trannies from different year ranges since they use different plugs / voltages for some of the sensors.

But if you've got a 92-00 civic with a D-series and a manual transmission, you can use any other manual transmission without any problems. I do recommend a 92-95 EX transmission. Good gearing and stronger shift forks.
