Default 92-95 b16a swap ?

Hi,

I just finished swaping a B16 into my 92 eg hb, the motor runns great. The problems i am having 1. I'm getting a code 41 (primary o2 heater) I have replaced the o2 and i am still getting the same code. Problem #2 is, I am also getting code 21 (vtec)

I have double and triple check all the wireing and everything looks fine, can someone help a very frustrated person out with some ideas on how to correct these problems?

Thanks, josh...

depending on what model 92 hatch you got, cuz i got the same car you got but mines is a CX, first thing is first, the CX only had a 1 wire o2 sensor, you have to add the other three wires, and also the CX never came with a knock sensor, you have to add the knock sensor to the actual clip where it connects to the ECU if its not connected vtec doesnt work, or possible you have a vtec wire and vtec pressure switch or just the vtec wire on your motor, and the ecu is looking only for one or both depending what year your motor is and if its JDM or USDM, you can connect the two wires together and your good

VTEC works without the knock sensor. Knock sensor will throw its own code.

x2. you dont need the knock sensor anyways.

for vtec check your oil level, and all your vtec solenoid wires.

when knock sensor cel is on vtec does not work, i have a type R motor in my 92 hatch and i had to connect the knock sensor wire because vtec was not working, not only that but when your knock sensor cel comes on your car will not go past 7200 rps, disconnect your knock sensor and try it out for your self, unless you have a chipped computer and have knock sensor disabled then it wont work

Thanks for all the replies, What i'm not understanding is, i did the swap at my dads house, and the only code i was getting was code 21... I drove the car home and the next day the code 41 poped up...

The car had a d16z6 swap (with no cel's) before i put the b16a in, it was already wired for a 4 wire o2 and vtec, all i did was plug everything back to where it was originaly...

It should have been a stright forward swap, thats why i'm not sure whats wrong... my car is a cx btw...

Maybe the O2 sensor just went bad when you were driving it the next day.

Is the B16 running on the right ECU? Maybe you were running really rich and fouled the sensor.

The wires from the o2 are ran throught the engine harness, when i try to run the wires from the o2 straight to the ecu, the motor shakes and runs like crap.. and yes i ran a sheilded wire to d-14 like the diagrams show.

replace the vtec solenoid it self i had the same code 21 issue and my solenoid was bad
as for the o2 chip it tune it and disable the o2 sensor thats how i fixed mine or you could chip it and run a aem wide band thats how my car is now works like a champ (200whp 40mpg)

my friend has a b16a throwing knock sensor code and O2 code and its not there at all, Vtec kickes in every time and he takes past 8k no problem. stock p30 ecu. may be different for different ECU's.

But anyways this is useless info for him since he never said anything about a Knock sensor code he said VTEC code and o2.
