Default 92-95 or 96+ Civic

I'm in the market of buying a Honda Civic Hatchback.

[....] At first I just want a vehicle that is very dependable and save mad $$$ on gas since the six cylinder is killin' my pockets. Next Spring I'll probably get the itch to hook it up so we shall see. Any comments or advice is welcome.

92, prewired for vtec

VX model gets good mpg and has a powerful enough engine to get you by!

EX if you want to start with a better engine (no swap plans)

Si is good but heavy (so is the EX)

CX is lightest but weak stock engine pretty good mpg

pretty much any civic hatchback will give you good mileage.. because they're puny motors.. i would look for 96 and up because they're more likely to have less mileage, less rust, and straighter body.
