90 hatch with d16z6 and lots of questions
Ok so I bought this car from a guy on cl. 700 bucks not bad considering no oil leaks knocks and the body has little rust. But I have lots of little issues and this being my first honda i have questions that some of you may know all about. The car is a 1990 civic si with a d16z6 motor.
1. V-tec doesn't work. Oil pressure switch code. I plan on jumping the a4 to d6 wire bypass. Is this a good idea?
2. Cold startup and periodically while driving I have an idle issue where it sounds likr I have a mean cam in it and it lopes from 1k to 1500. I replaced two temp sensors and iacv. No luck yet. Once car is warmed up it isles normal until I drive freeway for 5-10 min then it comes back until I drive in town for a while again.
3. Gas smell in car. I know the tank pickup and lines are in the car and have looked at them all but are there connectors or joints where a possible leak may occur in the dash area? Anything typical?
4. other points. Evap purge canister in missing. The solenoid is on the manifold but has an empty nipple because there is no where for it to go. No vacuum leaks, new plugs and wires, fresh new oil change, coolant is good. Has p28 ecu with unkown obd-obd1 jumper harness. Current codes are. V-tec oil pressure, engine coolant sensor, iacv.
Thanks for any help in advance.

Not if your oil pressure is low. Check here for troubleshooting: https://honda-tech.com/forums/hybrid-engine-swaps-18/%5Bfaq%5D-%22my-vtec-doesnt-work%22-1812135/

Bled your coolant? https://honda-tech.com/forums/honda-civic-del-sol-1992-2000-1/how-bleed-cooling-system-2341744/ Have you cleaned and adjusted your FITV? https://honda-tech.com/forums/acura-integra-6/%2A%2A%2A-how-%2A%2A%2A-clean-your-fitv-aka-fast-idle-thermo-valve-1564019/

Could be under the hood being drawn in from outside. Do you have the charcoal canister?

You sure you don't have the ECT and oil pressure sensor backward? You also may have the IACV mixed up with IAT? Post some good quality pics of you engine bay and engine
Thanks for any help in advance.

There isn't a fitv on this model. I have researched and looked for it and not there. Also no there isn't a canister on the car. If there were fumes coming in then where would they come from? I don't see any open hoses or fitting that would leak fumes or gas. Iat and iacv def not mixed up nor the oil/ ect
