Default 88-91 D-Series to 92-95 D-Series Parts, is there a difference?

I have searched around a bit but mostly coming up with 92-00 D-series motors. Heres the scoop. A freind of a freind has a 92-95 D15B? motor sitting around his garage. Not sure what the exact motor is but I know its not VTEC, doesnt matter much. The motor has the basics, oil pan, valve cover, maybe a dizzy. Other than that nothing. A freind of mine has an 1989 CRX with a high mileage d-Series that he would like to put the 92-95 D motor into. I know the D15 will need intake manifold, exhaust manifold, crank pulley, guessing some sensors, mounts etc etc. For the 89-91 and the 92-95 D-Series are motors the same in the sense of the major parts listed above? If anyone has a link to a compatiable list, that would work. If you know of things that will fit please post them up.

just replace it and use the stock intake manifold, and find an obd0 distributor

http://www.sohchonda.com/forum...=6812

my sticky on sohchonda regarding generation differences.

non vtec usdm d15bx engines are the same head to toe 88-95 (variation in pistons on some models) *d15z1 is a different animal, comparable to the z6 in differences*

so, if you want to swap between generations it is very simple, especially if you have all the parts from both chassis' (or just the chassis you plan to put it in)

as told in my sticky, the only difference between 92-95 d15 longblocks is the water neck out of the head, the thermostat housing and the lack of a temperature sender on the back of the block. You can simply swap over these parts from the 88-91.

while you're at it i would perform and mpfi swap and use the 92-95 intake manifold also

there may be some more specifics depending on the engine codes you are talking about. Some more info?

d15b2 = d15b7
d15b1 is the same as the two above engines except with a way worse camshaft
d15b8 has a neutered pm3 head (8 valve) and may have 8 valve pistons, most likely not.
d15b6 has different pistons and an 8 valve head
