8000k HID Lights
Where would the best place be to purchase these and are there any particular brands that stand out amongst the others?
Thanks *newbie to HID lighting *

Re: 8000k HID Lights (MyWhiteCivic)
im a hid *****.. please let me inform u:
4300k (shines pretty good but has a lil yellow in it, as seen on stock 3 series and such)
5200k (mc cocclough) porettu nice.. i recommend in color and they shine really nice
6000k (phillips) i have them right now.. its like mc c. but they have purple tint where as mc c has a blue tint
8000k (rice mobile).. its like the beam is SUPER blue.. NOT purple. its like 5200k except the color is blue like the sky and it shines like ****.. i've been thru 3 sets of hid's so i know
i recommend: 4300k for value and performance(bang for buck) but i suggest
5200k/6000k for best overall looks and performance(if u wanna spend 4-5 bills). don't get taiwain crap or china stuff.. it'll work but i mean.. when u pay that much for lights.. u dont want them to crap out.. right?

Re: 8000k HID Lights (Jadis)
a friend of mine has purple ones on his diamante. he tells me he gets pulled over all the time. the purple does not look like the purple in an audi. this purple is real purple and real gay looking. trust me. i have bright white ones...and they are the best. mine are phillips and i have no problem with them. another friend of mine bought a german brand for his wrx...forgot the name...but his are great too. i wouldn't buy taiwan..even though rsversion.com only sells them for 350.

I suggest going to http://www.lighting.philips.com and joining the Automotive forum. There's too many myths going around about HIDs. The guys over there will clear things up.
8000K is gonna be too blue/purple/whatever...are you getting HID for looks or performance? You'll have to find a balance, and like the previous poster, 5000K-6000K should be a nice balance.

Re: 8000k HID Lights (VTEC)
6000k looks OEM in vehicles with projector headlights. Mine look awesome, and I think it's one of the best modifications you can do to your vehicle. I have a G3 Integra with a 6000k kit. it illuminates great, and has no yellow in it whatsoever. I'd reccommend getting a lower kelvin kit if you're car has reflector housing's (Civic, Prelude ect.) This way your lights will look HID and not cheap-o. The difference stands out in the housing of the headlights. Great decision on going HID!

Re: 8000k HID Lights (Gatecrasher18AF)
anything above 4300K is a waste.. mccolloch makes their "5000k" kit by using 4300K bulbs and dipping them in rice blue superwhite coating..

Re: 8000k HID Lights
i think anything above 6000k is a little too much...my friend has Hella 7500k, which is blue, and it is extremely blue! I have Hella 4800k, and it looks white, but with a yellowish hue. I heard that it was proven that the higher the number does NOT mean the more visibility you get, just that the color output is different. 4300k is suppossedly suppossed to give you the most light output, from what i heard. One time driving down to LA from San Francisco, I got pulled over by a CHP, and he said I had "blue lights". I wonder what he would have said if I was running 8000k
