I would say go for it. Make sure that there aren't any hidden jabs in there with the purchase. (stolen, rebuilt title etc.)

d16z6's are basically the same as the d16y8, accept the y8 is a little more powerful than the z6.

The d16z6 does have VTEC just to let you know, if you thought it didn't. The d16z6's are rated at around 126 hp and 108 tq to the flywheel.

Man just swap it into DOHC B20/ or b18b are fairly cheap and easily boosted!! Look into that for some real power.

If you want a clean body and nice paint add 2000-2500 to the price man. For that same price you can start with something complete and in good condition.

My feeling is if someone never cared for the care or really abused it, it effects the entire car...you might be going through every single part on that car making it right.

Now if you dont care about the exterior just throw on some cheap aftermarket oem style fenders, hood etc go to maaco you should be fine...well for a year or so. The first time someone bumps your car with a shopping cart it will probably dent...the first winter with pebbles hittng your front end it will all chip away...you get the idea.

Good luck.

it needed new ball joints, it wasnt starting, there was no intake on the intake manifold. I drove it and i felt as if my auto z6 at the time was just as fast

For a 95 I still would have swooped on it and made it into a project.

OP: For 800 I would go for it, especially if the body just had minor dents and no rust. If its the fenders/hood/bumpers that are beat up you can easily find used ones in good condition for cheap.

Here's the SOHC info link:

https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=335078

If it's the D16z6 then it's a sohc vtec motor. It was in 92-95 EX or Si models (your car should have a power moonroof)

I would love to have a stock EX or Si... good AutoX car for H Stock and gets mid to high 30's mpg on the highway.
