6th gen jdm engine with a 5th gen manual transmission
I went to a used japanese engine shop to see about getting a new engine for my car. From my research I thought I had the wrong engine onto the proper 6th generation transmission. The guy there told me the engine is the proper generation, jdm vtec zc (which is called d series in america, but dont quote me) but the transmission is 5th generation. So far I burn a standard clutch plate a year (well the 2 years ive had the car. I dont race either). I hear a rubbing, maybe grinding, noise when I try to excellerate too fast from stop to speed. I'm actually excited to learn that I had the wrong tranmission bc I was on the right track of figuring why i am having a hard time getting the car to shift smoothly.
I was wondering if someone can explain what happens when gear ratios are not lined up to the transmission, engine, clutch plate (Other than the clutch has a possibility of getting permanently stuck). I plan to swap the transmission around april or so.

thank you both for responses.
That leads me now to do some research about rebuilding or just a flat swap. With either I'll find out how it installed and fix the leek.
