6th Gen Civic Suspension Upgrade

**I tried to post this under the Suspension forum, but was not authorized, and I really don't know why**

In a couple days or so, probably this Monday, the 22nd, I will be attempting to upgrade my suspension on my '98 Civic. I have Ground Control Coilovers, KYB AGX Gas Shocks, and Skunk2 Camber Kit.

Here are my pre-suspension work questions: In what order should I install these? What kind of "special tools" may I need? I have the basic set of tools that most every home owner has. Would it be easier to do all of this while on a lift? Are there any write-ups on these subjects? For the very beginners, how long should this take me? I hope to do all of this in one day, is that possible for the beginner? Does anyone have any words of advice before I start the project?

TIA

You cant post in the "suspension" forum because your not a sponcer. Thats for buying stuff.

Anyway i like the rule of thumb of installing top to bottom. So install the camber kit first then put everything else in. What i would do first over everything is put the coilover and the struts together. Then the camber kit and then the shocks.

Basic tools do the trick. No need for a lift... just put it on jackstands.

Don't need to compress the springs at all?

The proper way to remove stock springs is to use a spring compressor. You can usually rent them from a parts store like Kragen for about $10-15. Another way to remove the stock springs is to simply "shoot" the spring cap off upon removing the nut. However, I don't recommend the latter. Good luck with the install.

I recommend soaking your rear LCA bolts with some penetrant the night before. Those have a tendency to lock up on you. (I broke 2 impact sockets and a regular socket before my rear left bolt came out)

If you have access to a lift, use it, but it's not necessary. I jacked my car on 4 jackstands and that was fine.

As was mentioned, assemble the new coilover/shock combo before mounting - it's easier that way. Otherwise, good luck, you'll be fine.

You should be able to do it in a day. You'll need a spring compressor and some basic tools. Good luck.
