6G hatch exhaust question
ok...my friend just got his EG6. ( 96 DX hatch ) we popped the hood to see what we had to work with. and we see that his headers are 4 - to the cataylic converter....we are going to put a b18c1 in there...but we still want to make it legal..can we still put the cat under the car...? if we can...what kind of aftermarket exhaust to use?

Re: 6G hatch exhaust question (JUN EK9)
1. eg6 is not a 6g hatch.
2. when you put a b18c1 in there, obviously you do not use the stock DX catalytic converter as it is integrated with the header.
3. use a b18c1 header (or a jdm 4-1 / aftermarket that will fit) with a b-series cat, or aftermarket cat. you can get custom piping done for the rest of the b-pipe

To be smog legal, you need to use all the smog equipment from the motor you're using (keep in mind, that motor must be a 96+). About the exhuast, you'll either have to go custom or possibly find a bolt on exhaust system for a CTR or SiR from Japan.

Also, for an exhaust, the only "bolt on" system would be either a 99-00 Civic SI b-pipe and any hatchback bolt on rear section or Type One sells an EK 2.5in b-pipe (again with muffler of your choice). All US spec catbacks or JDM catbacks will need to be shortened.

A cat-back made for 96+ EX's should work on the hatch with minor modification near the cat (the cat will be under the car with your B-series swap) and a little shortening of the tail pipe or tip section if you don't want it sticking out so much.

because "ek" is 2 characters and "96 civic hatch" is 12 and 2 spaces.

Re: 6G hatch exhaust question (Unjockable)
i have a gsr in my car and what i used is a b16 header, an integra gsr coupe catalytic converter and a 92-95 si hatchback cat back....its a perfect bolt on. There is no need to shorten, lengthen or any of that other bullshit thats a waste of money.

If you're looking for a bolt on exhaust, I have Mugen Twinloop muffler and a mandrel bent b pipe. Came off a 00 hatch..all you need is a JDM type header (2.5" collector) and all is gravy...
