Icon5 D15B7 IDLE

Hello

I have Honda civic d15b7 engine 1.5L
and I wanted to know why my idle is rising in N gear ,or P gear ,or R gear ,to 1250RPM when the car is already at working temperature.
when the car is cold and I start it the idle is at 1200RPM and playing up and down between 1100-1200 RPM.
no error code at all.
There is a small black smoke coming from the exhaust and a very hard smell of gas specially when I hit the gas
please I need some help how to fix it in my opinion I think it’s the FITV that need to adjust.
What do you think?

Thank you

Did you just obtain this car?

You need to resolve the rich running / black smoke first. Likely someone has tampered with the idle system to keep the engine running (poorly) while it is making all the smoke.

Check that the CEL works. The light should come on for 2 seconds when you turn the key on but don't start. With the test jumper in place, it should light up steady while the key is on. If it never lights up at all, someone has removed the bulb or just let it burn out.

Trade it in for a BMW, you'll be better off.

Make sure it's a 5 series tho...

Yeah like Mk said, but I'd fix the idle issue. Clean out the IACV first If that doesn't help clean FITV and adjust the plunger all the way down.

Now you can roll around with a steady idle while fixing the running rich issue, speaking of which are you sure you aren't seeing a blueish tint in the smoke?

Pull the spark plugs, see black soot on them? If you are really running rich there should be a strong smell of gas on them as well.

Running rich sounds like injectors stuck open.

A noid light will tell you if the injectors are receiving the correct pulse signals. If always on, there is an electrical problem. If all pulse as the car is running, then it's a mechanical issue with gummed up injector(s). A quality fuel injection cleaner will clean them up.

Berryman's B-12 Chemtool is a high quality one.
As well as if you can find Wynn's Power Charge, that is a quality fuel injection cleaner.

The engine could be installed into a multitude of different cars, including an 88-91 Civic with an OBD0 ECU. As you know full well, car information is crucial to understanding any tech problem. Is the D15B7 completely stock otherwise?

Coolant and as can be seen in your photo, that is some serious buildup of garbage.

I understand and for the knowledge the coolant circulation in this FITV is from throttle body pipe down to the FITV pipe or otherwise?

I believe it's otherwise. I believe the coolant flows from the head, to the FITV pipe, passes the wax plug to flow through the throttle body to travel through a pipe to the IACV.

No it will not. Like I said earlier in this thread, you need to fix that first.

Hello

I need to know please if I want to disconnect the kick down cable from the throttle body but also to save the adjustment settings can I do it?
There are 2 bolts holding the cable 1 from the right side and 1 from the left side.

Thank you

I sent you a PM to help you acquire the Factory Service Manual for USDM D15B7 cars.

The manual will help you with everything you have asked so far and then some.

Good luck.

This is getting ridiculous. You're not going to show us what's on the other end of that hose?
