I im pretty sure this has been asked before and there may be thread already but According to the Honda speaker fitment guide for my 1996 Honda Civic 4d Sedan, the right size should be 6.5 and I ordered Some Soundstream PCT-653 3way 6.5 and when I take out the front door panel speaker grill I notice its not the right size, its actually .5 inch too big and the one in there says 6" and fits perfect... I'm thinking of grinding some of the plastic off to make it fit but I don't like that Idea, has anyone had the same problem?????

alot of times you have to trim out the bucket behind the speaker for aftermarket to fit correctly.

Yes I guess that's what I'll have to do, didn't want to do so because its quite a lot to grind off.. if you mean the rear bucket where the Magnet goes up against, that's not even the problem, this speakers don't even fit in the front bolt ons So I'm gonna have to actually open up the front like grind a off a space for the bottom speaker to fall into and just bolt the top and hopefully the sides if I have space... thank you for the Help, I see what I can do...

oh i miss understood your problem.. i had that same issue with my speakers, they were too wide as well, the only way is trim little by little untill it fits enough.

I have this exact same problem. I just got some front speakers for my 98 civic since the stock ones were blown when I purchased the car. The new speakers are 6 1/2" but the factory ones are more like 6 1/4" and I can't get these in there. So it's normal to just take a dremel or something and open it up? What do I put the screws into? is the plastic thick enough to drill another small hole and run the screw in a new spot?

If you don't want to do that I remember seeing adapters to help facilitate installation.

Well I managed to fit mine. I didn't cut anything. Just put the over sized speaker in the hole and drilled some new holes and used the supplied self tapping screws. Four per speaker. Seems to hold them in pretty good.

I also took the factory connector off the old speakers and soldered them to my new mini jumper harness I made that snaps directly into the factory harness. I thought it was pretty slick lol.
