Default 5Zigen fireball axleback. good or overpriced?

Im considering getting a 5zigen fireball exhaust for my eg civic. I dont know anything about the system except that is is expensive. Does anybody have a sound clip of one on their civic? If not thats ok but any feedback would be appreciated

its loud !! if u want to attract attention..good and bad this is the way to go..most guys that have gotten it end up using it with a long resonator..nice sound then..pricy..but isnt all name brand mufflers??..the customer ends up paying way too much for these aftermarket parts..a good generic aftermarket muffler will do as well..half the price, looks just as good and most people cant tell the difference..its power, not looks..im about to swap out the stainless streetliner ive got now and put on a plane looking muffler just to get the cops off my back

ive had one on my teg for about 6 months now...i have never been pulled over, followed, or even looked at by a cop...its a very quiet exh. when its axel-back...but then again im driving a non-vtec motor, so it doesnt get that loud anyway...im sure full piping on a vtec honda could be considerably louder.

Ive got a Zigen on my EK, with b18c and its pretty damn loud. There is a silencer for em also. Spend the money and get the Axle back Zigen cause Tenzo, OBX and the rest are all freaking bad!

I have a the 5Zigen catback on my car and i like it a lot. I like how it looks and sounds. It's pretty quiet at idle but it gets loud when you step on it. I wouldnt say its any different than any other cat back exhaust. I got one ticket for having my "Muffler modified to Amplify Sound"...but where i live i consider my car quiet. And I think the cop who gave me the ticket was just looking to be a *****. Its loud, but so are most catbacks.

Thanx guys I appreciate all the info. I live in a small amish town and the cops here dont give a damn how loud my car is so it doesnt really matter. I just dont want an exhaust that is so loud that everytime i drive my car my ears are ringing for an hour.
im also considering a custom job with an OBX baby bomb muffler and 2.5 inch stainless from cat back no resonator..
If I take the resonator out how much louder should i expect my exhaust to be?

unless ur running some kind of forced air id go with 2 1/4 in piping..no more..its going to be loud without the resonator

If it's just an axle-back, it doesn't really matter what brand you get. They will all give you about the same gains (e.g. very little). If you're price conscious, take a look at these...they're Tenzo axle-backs. Most ppl that don't know much about them or have lil to no experience w/ them immediately call them crap cuz they're lowered priced (the whole mine's is more expensive so it's better idea). While this may be true for items that require a lot of R&D (e.g. cams), it's hardly holds for exhausts. There isn't too much R&D needed to make an exhaust, and even less for an axle-back replacement. The welds on these are very nice and they sound as good as any name brand exhaust. The 5zigen's nice, and if you're willing to spend the money for it, then go for it. But if your goals are looks, some mild perfomance gains (very mild w/ any axle-back), and good quality, then consider Tenzo. A couple of my friends have these and they love them. No probs what-so-over. they're full t304 stainless and also come w/ stainless connecting piping, something that none of the big brand axle-backs do (e.g. 5zigen). Here's some pics. I can get either of them for $180. HTH.

Tenzo Type5 (5zigen fireball copy)

Tenzo Type2 (Tanabe Racing Medalion copy)

Tenzo Type2k (same as Type2, but Carbon Fiber canister) $200
