54 CKF (crank fluctuation sensor) What do i do?

Default 54 CKF (crank fluctuation sensor) What do i do?

I got the "54 CKF" code from my CEL. I was wondering what i have to do to fix it. I have a 96 civic cx hatch with a b18b swap (non-vtec). WHAT DO I DO? Thank You.

Check your wiring to start with. 99% of problems lie there.

OK. So i resterted the ecu and my CEL codes all went away but one....the 54 CKF. What do i do now? Do i need to replace it? Re-wire it? And where is it? I have a B16B non-vtec (OBD1 i believe). I figure it is a wiring issue but clueless to what must be done. The number on my ecu is "p75 ao2" if that helps.

B16B Non-VTEC? You have a Non-VTEC Civic Type R motor? That you're running off a P75?

Kiddo, you have a B18B1 from an Integra. And being as you have a code for a Crank Fluctuation Sensor, it's OBD2.

Bah, forgot to tell you where it is .... stupid early mornings. It's located in your oil pump.

:Bump: Need the car runnin ok soon.The car gets worse the longer you drive it. the motor starts to struggle. The cel is throwing the 54 CKF code. The car is hitting the rev limit way early. I would say how early but i have a cx hatch and no tach. HELP PLEASE

Much thanks. I reconnected what i think might be the Crank Fluctuation sensor. It was close to the oil filter and wasn't connected. Are there any pics of it? Just in case. If this doesn't work i'll try the splicing trick. Thanks again.

nope thats ur oil pressure sensor.
and the one next to that is ur knock sensor
its nect to the crank case

ok. The crank case is where the engine meets the transmission right? theres like 3 plugs there. There aren't pics anywhere. I googled it but got nuthin.

unless he edited his original post, it allready said B18B. he also never said anything about OBD2 or OBD1 or whatever. Hmm..maybe he edited it, though.

Anyway, are you sure that your B18B even has a CKF?? What year integra did it come out of? I thought that the B18B could also be the OBD1 motor. Or was that the B18A2...dammit. What year car did the motor come from? The pre 96 cars did not have a CKF. So if there's nothing to plug in, thats where your code is coming from.

Your ecu does not see a CKF because the 95 motor did not have a CKF. So it sets off a check engine light. The CKF was introduced in 96. Anyway, make sure your injectors are wired correctly. What year/chassis/engine does your ECU come from?

Ok. Unfortunately I dont know what car the ECU came from but the label on it says "37820-p75-AO2". I hope that helps.

i know its not the most reliable source but i checked ebay and it looks like my ecu is OBD2.

ok. from what car? vtec? non-vtec? was this question allready answered?

The obd2 injectors are different than the OBD1. The best thing would be to get a set of OBD2 stock LS/GS injectors. Otherwise, i think you can just flip the ground and power wires around on each injector, but DONT QUOTE OR TRUST ME ON THAT. the injectors are most likely causing your bogging or whatever other driveability problems.


for the CKP check engine light, you can get an oil pump from a 96+ LS/GS motor so it has the CKP in it. This is expensive, though...and a bitch to install when the motor is allready in. Do you have emissions testing where you live?

On OBD2 motors, the CKP is located by the alternator...it is behind the timing belt cover. You dont have one on your 95 motor, so dont look for it.

If you have an OBD1 motor running off an OBD2 ecu, you will throw a code for CKF, amongst other things. Plug the VIN off your motor into Carfax and find out what year it is.

Radio Shack has those

Oh, and for the future, if you ever have a CEL code / wiring / ecu question, check FFSTechnet first. Some great stuff there, I use their site all the time.
