Default 500hp D16z6 transmission?

So I have a 92 civic SI with the D16Z6 motor and I have plans to hopefully get it pushing close to 500hp!!! So my question is, how would I get my transmission to be able to withstand all that HP or would I have to do a transmission swap? Just trying to get as much info as possible thanks

Simple as that? Swap out the stock synchros with carbon ones and put an lsd on it?

also depends on how you shift. be good at shifting quickly while not grinding gears. check your shifter bushings too

Which transmission do you have? S20? S40? The S20 has cast aluminum shift forks that are prone to breaking when thrashed. The S40 has steel shift forks that are more robust. An LSD, fresh synchros, and a bearing and seal rebuild would be a good idea. You may start to break gears if you're launching hard. Chris @ Whoopee Doo Racing can do custom ratio straight cut gears with synchro engagement if you need it and you're serious. I'd recommend you just contact him and talk about goals, and he can put you on the right path. He posts in the Transmission/Drivetrain section of the forum under the name Aquafina.

Stock axles will handle 500 WHP? I thought they needed to be upgraded to ones from places like the driveshaft shop? As well as the transmission upgrades.

I'd be updating my axles if I was at that level, but if you aren't doing launches, stock may be able to handle it. I'm gunning for close to 400 whp and plan on (at least initially) running Duralast axles.
