Is a 5-spd tranny from a d16y8 1998 model, better than the 92-95 trannys?

I have a lot of bearing noise in my 93-cx wich has a 95 coupe sohc vtec swap in it, I can either tear into the tranny I have (145,000 miles) to replace all the bearings. Or I have a man that will sell me a cheap trans(@55,000 miles) that needs a main shaft bearing, out of a 98-ex coupe.
Is it true that the 96-00 models have steel shift forks and are better transmisisons b/c of this. Thanks in advance...

Yes. The 96-00 EX trannies have steel shift forks and are much stronger and durable compared to the 92-95 which have aluminum shift forks.

they are stronger. Still not very strong though

I don't think any d trannys are.

learning about trannys here is fun. will that need any modification? the 96+ onto a 92-95block? tossing around ideas for z6 swap soon.

curious, my buddy might have to put a 88-91 tranny onto his 94 EG sedan.ok so it will bolt up. what's need to connect the tranny to his pedals? is there a special conversion kit for this? what will he need? any knowledge appreciated cuz most likely it'll be me helping him

. im guessing the EF clutch cable...pedals..what about shift linkage?
