Default 5$ Custom VTEC Engagement system

Hey there fellas. I've just installed a 5$ custom VTEC engagement system on my 2k Si. I can engage VTEC at any time I want. All I did was wire a 12 volt switch to the VTEC solenoid wire @ the ECU and installed a 12 volt doide between the switch and the ECU so as not to send 12 volts into my ECU and possibly damage it. I was just wodering what possible damage if any I may experience. I know that my oil pressure is too low below 4500rpm so that's as low as I'll try to engage VTEC. The only Problem I've run into is throwing codes if I forget to disengage the VTEC as I spin dow to idle. I would appreciate and feedback. Thanx Guys.

i wouldn't mess with it. your $5.00 can cost over $500 in repairs.

without the fuel enrichment, what are you going to gain by engaging vtec early?

considering vtec is set by a oil pressure as well, this is stupid.

if you really wanted to you can notch the o ring at the base of the spool valve and have it on all the time and not burn up the soleniod. but we have seen this on race only applications.

not only is this a stupd mod/post u must not know a damn thing about oil pressure at 4500 RPM. if u did know about oil pressure u would know that u have plenty of pressure for VTEC engagement.

Oil presure has nothing to do with why this is stupid!!!

It is stupid because if you set VTEC anywhere else then where it is without mods to justify the change, and a dyno to make sure your not loosing power, then you WILL loose power!!!

The VTEC lobes are designed to make power at a cerain point. You DO NOT gain power simply by lowering VTEC!!!

Honda has a reason why vtec engages at a specific RPM

sure it does dumbass: and heres the quote "I know that my oil pressure is too low below 4500rpm so that's as low as I'll try to engage VTEC"

last time i checked SIs, GSRs, and ITRs all shared the same oil pump. GSR has vtec set at 4400 and besides that there is plenty of oil pressure below that too. thats my point. if u didnt understand my first sentence i said this was a stupid mod/post. i didnt think it was that hard to understand.

you dont have to rag on the guy, just school him/her. that mod will do nothing for you unless you have cams or some other kind of mod. your car is set to engage vtec at that point so that you get the best of the bottem end and the best of the high.

The stupidest part is that he is manually engaging VTEC, which means that he has to manually disengage it.

Oh ok so you got jokes huh. What's the blue book on your car? Probably as much as it costs to paint a car! It's actually 14.98. Thanks though.
