400-500 RPM at Idle
When I'm at a stop light my car idles really low. I know normally my car is suppose to idle at around 750 - 900 rpms, I like my idle a little high. Most parts on my car are new, brand new distributor, new cat, and a new O2 sensor. The plugs on my car are only a month old and my plug wires are still good. Whats the problem? I cleaned the IACV so its not clogged. It might be the timing but I just had it set not too long ago, so it should be right. So whats the deal? Anyone?

Is your car auto? what happens under high electrical load (lights)? Are you determining that your idle is low based only on the factory tach? could be dirty injectors, maybe the TPS is not giving the proper resistance. If everything is ok and your idle is only low when warm, you should be able to use the idle adjustment screw to bring the idle up. Still, if your idle was fine before, you should not have to do this.

Unfortunately my car is auto. Nothing happens under high electrical load, acutally the car idles normal when my stereo is running and my headlights and fog lights are on. Just cleaned the injectors, Seafoam works great. How can I test if the TPS sensor isnt giving the proper resistance? Even if I change the idle adjustment screw the idle really doesnt change much.

i had this same problem with my crx before. according to a book i have you should check
1. vacuum leakage
2. leaking egr valve
3. air filter clogged
4. fuel pump not delivering sufficient fuel
5. leaking head gasket
6. timing belt and/or pulleys worn
7. camshaft lobes worn
you might be able to check these things

turning the screw to the right makes the idle go down, and turning it to the left has your car idle higher. thats how it is on my crx anyways.

All that is brand spankin new. Brand new spark plugs, and replaced the whole distributor.
