well as far as i know (which isnt too much) a 4-1 header will give you power towards the upper rpm range and the 4-2-1 will make power evenly but not as much at a certain point so it all depends on what you wanna do. keep revs up to make the power or just have a nice power increse all over its really just your choice.

For generic headers

4-1 is more top end
4-2-1 is more for low/mid-range.

Stick to 4-1, when you're racing where are your RPMs usually?

Hey thx for the explaination. What I want is more power at low rpm (like around 2000rpm), so my car can pick up faster... somebody says I should use 4-1 in this case.
Is that right?

Well, I usually drive at round 4000 / 5000 rpm. Just a daily driver, or small battle sometimes...ha ha

what i was sayin is that he kinda contradicted him self. seeing as how i would buy a header based on how i drive and what rpm range so i used that for him. as in you want to make power at 2000? BUT you drive mostly at 4000/5000 so i would seem it would be better off buying a 4-1 cuz of where he drives. just thought i would clear that up. and i dont think it really matters a header is a header its just what its made out of and the name thats on it. i like dc sports headers cuz they are nice but you can get an ebay one also. though i havnt seen to many 4-1 ebay headers maby i dont look hard enough

Don't get a super cheapo one. They don't make power and will probably crack.

Cheap but decent are DC, Megan, Street Imports

What I want to do is having faster pick up as mush as possible from the D-engine. At least want to make it better then what it has right now....I've changed the whole cat back already, and want to upgrade the header too...so...

sometimes i will drive at around 4000 to 5000, but not always.

thx for the suggestion on brands, i will look around on those.

Thx for your comment, Syndacate. I can't post anymore today, since i'm just Trial...
I'll post up later. peace.......

It's a D engine, need a turbo to give it power anyways :-P

Go with DC sports, I've never had problems with their headers..

I'd also go with the 4-1 header, before popular belief was that 4-2-1 give you power at low-mid range RPM's where 4-1 give you power at high RPM"s, but recent dyno results claim that the 4-1 header still produces more whp than the 4-2-1 header in the low/mid range anyways...

For a D series engine, u probably won't build it that much if ur putting headers on it (unless ur doing some crazy high priced N/A build in which case I doubt u'd be on here asking which type of headers to buy)

Just face it like I and many others have - the D series blows and is worthless unless used as a commuter w/o FI unless u have tons of money to blow on upgrades (more than a swap would cost)....

hey.
think of it this way.
if you get 4-1 your going to do good on the freeway but suffor on the street..cause you will have alot better top end.

if you get 4-2-1 you will do alot better on the street but suffor on top end..

It's obvious you have a civic, BUT what type of honda motor are you running? There are many types of headers out there in the market. Side exit, 4-2-1, 4-1, 4-2-2-1. What's your goal?
