3 years after joining, finally got a Civic.
Hey Honda-Tech, finally got me a Civic. Quite a bit has changed since I first joined, going back and reading my first posts was odd, a very different time in my life!
Anyway, since I joined I've become a Police Officer (**** me, right?), have owned a couple more old BMWs, a 2000 Porsche 911 (what a disaster), and now finally a 2016 F150 and my new Civic.
Long story short, I'm also an apartment manager in addition to being a PO-lice, and I ended up buying a Volvo from a girl that lived in the building. It was broken down, wouldn't start, oil issues etc... Instead of fixing it up I decided to cut my losses and listed it on CL. Went looking for a cheap manual DD to keep miles off the truck and prevent me from running out of warranty 2.5 years early....
Got an offer for the car below, a 2000 Civic LX, 5 speed, 204k, lowered on ebay springs I think, ebay fart can, stickers, quick release bumper, etc... PO said it burned oil, but it seems to be driving well, no funny smells, shifts nicely etc..
Hood is jacked up from flying open on the highway. PO put hood pins in and replaced the windshield, already got a brand new hood on the way for $100. Other than that, plan is to remove the stickers and drive it till it blows.
PICHERS:
The Volvo. Body was super clean, but the engine....worrisome.
All hooked up to the EcoBeast:
And.....the Civic..... Notice all the cool stickers and faux wood quick release steering wheel! Also has a Crown Royal shift boot!!!!!
Cool thread, huh? I'm bored. Car drives quite nicely and makes enough power to safely merge onto the highway. Surprisingly it tracks straight, no funny noises other than the fart can, steering feels OK...

Yes sir, basically just going to clean it up and make it look more "grown up." Sticker removal is starting tonight, ordered a new shift ****, shift boot, shifter bushings, and the new hood as well.
I'm going to be ordering maintenance things next, timing belt kit with water pump, PCV valve, oil change, trans fluid change, check underneath for sketchy stuff..
Then, I shall drive it!

It's probably going to be my guinea pig car for body work and paint. Lots of little dents, chipped paint, scratches, etc.. My brother in law has a paint gun and a little experience painting his trucks, and he's agreed to let me play around with his equipment.
I would like to find some cheap spacers to push the wheels a little bit, they seem really sucked in. Probably due for an alignment too.

The pic makes it look like it's been tapped in the rear. Bumper is scewed a touch. Too tight on the back and not in line of the wheel well curve on the side fenders.
The '00 LX is the D16Y7 non vtec motor, nothing really special about it but should get decent fuel economy.
Burning oil probably means the rings are tired but a used motor should be pretty cheap if you have to worry about emissions. If not, just buy cheap 5w30 conventional oil and keep her topped up and she'll go a long time burning oil.

I plan on getting that lined back up as good as I can, then living with it. I found an engine/transmission combo for $500, has new clutch, timing belt, gaskets, valve stems, etc... Might wait to see how quickly this one burns oil before dropping money on a new engine. I'm cool topping it off and just riding things out for now!

Will do!
Removing all of them!
My plan is to hopefully find time in the next month to repaint it. My cousin's husband has a paint gun and shop where he's painted multiple trucks before. It's closer to a Maaco quality vs factory, but I've always wanted to try my hand at painting and this gives me a great opportunity to try my hand!
