Default 3-piece wheel, bolt/stud removal?

i recently picked up some work rs-beta and i'm looking to remove the studs/bolts so i can re-polish the lip and powdercoat the center easier. the studs/bolts have like a star-shaped head and i'm not exactly sure what tool/socket i need to remove them. can anyone lead me in the right direction?

thanks

It's a torx bit, but I have to highly recommend against taking them apart. There is a special process 3 peice wheels go through to make sure the wheel is put together true and with the proper torque.

Yeah, you can't just go around tightening them up around the perimeter, or even crossways like your lugnuts. I don't know the specifics of how it's done, but I know only professionals should take apart 3pc wheels.

You should contact a wheel repair shop, they'll be able to give you a better idea of what's involved, and may even be able to do it cheaply.

yea, i understand what you're saying completely, i thought the same thing when you said it...with so many studs/bolts, i'm sure you can't just tighten them in any random order or even crossways like lug nuts. i guess i'll do some more looking into it, thanks.

I wouldn't be surprised if at the factory a machine does all the screws similtaniously and with a press.

I'm pretty sure that's how they'd do it on the assy line; but I know there is a process for the wheel repair guys go through to get around it somehow.
