Default 3" exhaust set-up for my turbo ls/vtec

my car will be on the road very soon. i have an ls/vtec with the peakboost kit. fogred internals, ported head, honadata s300 ect. i had a question about the exhaust set-up. i currently have 2.5" no cat. after i get the car back form the dyno im going to be installing a 3" dual exhaust set-up. this is what i was was thinking:
3" piping from downpipe to 18" vibrant resonator. then i was going to buy a 3" inlet to 2.5" outlet y pipe. http://www.mandrelbendingsolut...o=452
then have 2.5" piping to each muffler. does this seem adaquate? what mufflers would you recomened? will cheap ebay mufflers do the trick? or should i get something better?

do it before dyno, otherwise your going to need a re tune immediately

yes i know this. the place im having the work done built the motor ect. but they dont have exhaust equipment needed to do the job. so there gonna tune it then once i get the exhaust done im driving back up to get re-tuned that day. im just wondering whats good for mufflers? if cheap ones are fine since it will be dual exhuast...and if the set-up seems adaquate. i should be making 400whp with a conservative tune i was told.

Why not a single exhaust. Prob be alot more efficient.

because i have a body kit with two cut-outs. so i figured i mine as well fill in both spots. i dont think there should be much differnce on efficency from one to two mufflers. especially on turbo where back pressure isnt nessacry. im thinking of just getting cheap ones. i dont think a muffler should make to much diffrence. i can get two for 60$ but a name brand muffler is like 150-220$ each. i cant justify spending that kind of money on a muffler.

so is there going to be a huge diffence in sound if i use dual exhaust or not? and if i get cheap mufflers is that really going to make a diffrence. i cant see a muffler affecting horsepwer at all, just sound. but im thinking that the cheap mufflers will do just fine??

yes 2.5 to each sounds fine.. egay mufflers WILL blow their own packing out in a couple months and sound like a bag of empty tin cans. apex 'cans have never let me down, and you can usuallyfind them on sale somewhere. and they are huge so will probably look matched to your black widow bumper.

:runs away, just cause everyone else did:

im not saying it needs dual exhuast. it just looks kinda stupid with an open spot there... thats what the bumper was designed for. i didnt do it before cause i didnt have turbo and i figured id just lose more power having such an open exhaust. but know ill be 400ish whp with pump gas and the more open the better so i figerd it a good time to go dual. i dont wana run open downpipe im trying to not make it too loud. it will be a street car. what mufflers can you recomened that arent to much money. i just cant justify spending 400$ on 2 mufflers.

Why spend 400 on 2 mufflers when you only need one. I can understand ur concern about filling the holes on both sides, but with the money you save from buying the second muffler, you can pay a body shop to fill the second cutout.

yeah i guess that might be a better option..... howver i have a urethane bumper. plus the paint isnt factory pain i highly doubt it would cost 200$ to fill in an re-paint the rear bumper itd cost much more... if urethane can even be filled in?? so my best bet you think would be 3" from downpipe to 3" resonator ( i really dont want it too loud) probably an 18" long one. strainght back to an quailty muffler... apexi, hks, skunk 2 ect.....??

i was thninking maybe the apexi world sport 2 turbo muffler... hear anything good about these? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors...00592

do you think the tianium slide would work on this muffler? or would it only work on the N1 mufflers? i like that burnt look on the tip..

pretty much seems like you want dual exhaust on that body kit rather than just filling in a empty slot... but i will say im not a fan of either dual exhaust or a body kit but if your looking for a good cheap muffler i bought an obx universal a while back off ebay for like 60 bux and it worked out ok...

honestly im not a huge fan of dual exhaust either. well i have an 08 tl type s and love the way the dual exhaust looks. but it more suits that car. im not a fan of a big hole in my rear bumper with nothing in it. but guess ill just have to deal with it. id rather get a quailty muffler than go dual... baiscally im just going to do 3" piping form downpipe to resonator not sure which one, to apexi ws2 turbo muffler. i think thats a better option than dual...

I run a 3" from downpipe all the way back to an apexi N1 no cats and no resonator. Its a kteller exhaust system and while I love the sound, if I did it all over again, I would go with something a little quieter like a thermal muffler. I ran a test pipe before i put the turbo on with the 3" exhaust and it was stupid loud. The turbo quieted it down a lot. I also deleted the hi flow cat I was using before I installed the turbo.

Im pretty sure you can lay fiberglass over the urethane, how long it will hold up is anyones guess though. You can get urethane filler and fill it yourself and just have the body shop do the finishing touches to save money. Thats what I would do at least.

i don't know... you don't think your building way too much back pressure do to the 2.5 outlets. turbos run happy with no back pressure.

yes the paint is matched lol. the whole car was painted door jams and all. and i relaize turbo require no back pressure. thats why i was thinking of doing dual cause it wouldnt have affectd performance like if it was n/a.

i ordered my exhaust today i ended up sticking with single exhaust. i ordered the stainless steel 3" kteller system with 18" resonator. then i bought an apexi world sport 2 turbo muffler with the 3" inlet. i guess ill have to just deal witht the open spot in the bumper lol. im not putting more money into body work right now. ive spent to much on this car it never ends. FYI here is the set-up

Ls block with 81.5mm JE pistons and eagle rods w/block guard
Ported and polished b16a head with Stainless steel valves
both head and block were re-surfaced to mate
ACt extreme clutch
Endyn oil catch can
edelbrock tb 65mm port matched to AEBS polished intake manifold
AEm fuel rail
750CC injectors
PEak Boost kit with t3/t4 6o trim turbo and ram horn manifold
Stock GSr cams with adjustable cam gears
S300 hondata w/nitrous control wired for 35 shot to spool turbo
Quailfied lsd
Stock axles (lol going to be changed out often id imagine)
3" kteller exhaust straight from downpipe no cat.

all work is being done at the dyno shop including the motor being re-built, turbo install and tuning.

i was told a conservative tune will net 400whp easily. closer to 500whp with race fuel. anything after 500 gets iffy on stock sleves i was told.
