2ooo Honda Civic Si Problem - HELP
Okay, I have a JDM Sir 2 b16 in my 2000 Honda Civic Si. I blew my engine so I swapped in a new one. My car was running fine until this happened:
Me and my friends where replacing my intake manifold gasket on my car. I put everything back on and it threw 2 codes . CODE 1 and 23 ... 1=is the primary o2 sensor, which I dont know where it is? and 23 is the knock sensor. Keep in mind my car didn't have a CEL before. I did notice when I took off the IM, I noticed that the KS was being held on by a small strand of wire? I don't know where the primary o2 sensor is, where is it? I have noticed that my car wastes more gas now, like on freeway. Will my car mess up by running like this? Please help .... im really down cuz everytime I try to changing something on my car .. I end of messing it up more ... = $$$

Don't know about the Code 23, but the Code 1 as you said, is the primary 02 sensor. Thats in your exhaust manifold (or header) before the catalytic converter. You might just want to try clearing the CELs and see if they come back on.

Re: 2ooo Honda Civic Si Problem (SiRacer365)
It honestly could be that your primary 02 is just on it's way out and it picked now to die. I hope you did'nt get anything down in your head (peices of the old gasket in particular). And the shitty gas mileage is induced by the CEL being on (puts car into limp mode in most cases, as it will with the primary 02 being toast). Just go back and double check that no wires got pinched/cut on the knock sensor and just check out the 02 and see if you can find anything out of place.

slow down and read his responses...all the info you need is here
the sensor is on the exhaust manifold (header)... if you recently replaced it try putting the old one back on and see if the CEL still remains...
your car won't run like ****... but i've been told that once the primary goes the secondary is sure to follow...if it's not replaced...perhaps i was lied to...

ooooo you didn't touch the sensor did you? if you did shame on you as that's probably why it threw the code. The natural grease on your fingers on the probe surface will cause bad things for it. Same as with halogen bulbs.

your car will fine for now. just change your o2 sensor and about your knock sensor that another story. what kind gas did you use? cause knock sensor code mean that your engine is detnation= pinging or broken wire.

That means your car is not tuned correctly and you are having early detonation which will quickly kill a motor.

You did what?? You clear a code by 1. disconnecting the ECM, 2. Removing the backup fuse or 3. removing the negative battery terminal. CEL's can't be removed by inserting your key into a slot in the dash.

Re: 2ooo Honda Civic Si Problem (SiRacer365)
could be a lot of different things like bad fuel, bad knock sensor, timing. but would check the first two items though.

No, I don't have an SI, but one of my best friends does. Agian, no keyslot in the guage cluster for it. There is a small button to reset the maintenance required light thing at the bottom of the speedometer, but all of the EKs have those. I have already posted the only ways to clear a CEL.
EDIT: I even tracked down a picture of the cluster so you can show me what it is you are talking about.

Re: (OOsi)
I just tossed one up. That small slot to the bottom left of the speedometer is for RESETTING THE MAINTENANCE LIGHT, not clearing a CEL. All EK's have that little reset for the maintenance light along with every other 90s+ Honda I have ever been in.

I promise you...you cannot reset the CEL with that. I have a Helms right here and even checked. That is for the maintenance light for the third time. Somebody else back me up on this.

Yes it is a matenince light if you watch it carefully over time it will turn from green to read when it turns red stick your key in there and push and it turns back to green don't believe me want me to make a movie of it??? if you wanna clear the code fix what it is and reset the ECU DUH!

that maint. thing that you clear with the key is just to tell you to take the car in for service...if you take the cluster apart you'll see that its driven by the odometer. Its just a rolly thing...goes from green -> yellow -> red
