Default 2nd Gen ZC engine

I have a buddy that just bought a 2nd gen twin cam ZC engine that came out of a 92 civic from Japan. I know that the motor and trans would pretty much drop in to a 92 hatch with no problems, but as far as axles go, would I be using the stock single cam ones, or would I have to run integra axles? TIA

You will use your stock D series axles.

Cool swap choice BTW.

with close to 5000 posts, you think you would of learned a ****** thing or two, keep your mouth shut if you dont have a clue what your talking about

if he uses the ZC tranny, the axles will NOT fit

if he uses his current tranny they will fit (oviously)

I hate people who give out wrong info

First of all, post count doesn't have a thing to do with a person's working knowledge of a car. There used to be a member here with 3000+posts that were seriously nothing more than:

""

So the post count comment was uncalled for. WAFFLES is a very helpful member who gives out 99% correct info. You just happened to see perhaps his ONE mistake.

Secondly, the type of ZC tranny mentioned, the hydro one, does it use unequal length axles or a midshaft?

I'm thinking that it uses a midshaft, so in this case then our friend WAFFLES might have acidentally given the wrong info. The hydro ZC swap is very rare, so I doubt many here will even know 100% whether ir not it has a jackdhaft for SURE.

Thirdly I understand if you're frustrated about someone giving out false info, but there's a more tactful way of expressing it. Had you pointed out nicely that WAFFLES was incorrect, and then he flamed the **** out of you then your curse-out posts would have seemed at least slightly appropriate (although still not necessary).

In the future please refrain form the F-Bombs on another board member.

If anyone else feels the need to curse and flame more in this thread, it will be locked down.

What do you mean used to be...? He's still here, isn't he...?

And as for the ZC tranny. As B18C5 stated, it does use a midshaft... I've also heard of people modifying the D16 trannies to use the ZC midshaft = no more torque steer...

I'd like to see this ZC tranny. As far as I can tell, the ZC DOHC block is quite similar to any other d-series block, so that whole d-series tranny with a midshaft idea seems pretty cool to me.

I know postcount has nothing to do with it, I was just being sarcastic, ... but honestly you think after having spent time to post 4000+ times you would of picked up a thing or two

it's not about waffles, it's about misinforming as a whole...I can go in tech and lay down LOTS of posts, but since I am not 100% shure about it, I dont...the only reason my comments were harsh was because if I were the kid expecting my shafts to fit no problem because mr. waffles told me it would, only to realize it dosen't, boy does that ever set me back, and i've been a 'victim' (if you can say that) of misinformation on web boards, and that's the main reason I flip out...it just kills the whole 'plan' of actions

my opignion is that if you dont know or unshure dont post...let someone who knows it post...is that so wrong?

I understand I shouldn't of flamed, and I am sorry waffles

The reason I said use the stock D series axles is because I was told by 2 different people, one of these people you internet nerds cream over, and the other a local D series guru, that these trannies in the EG w/ ZC was the same as the 92-95 Si tranny. SO if they are the same trannies, then the axles are the same.

Maybe the trannies are different, but I've been told by 2 different people that they use 92-95 SI trannies.

So please, if I was wrong, feel free to blow me!

Apology said, and apology accepted I think?

Anyways yes I agree on the misinfo portion, but at this point who can confirm or deny whether or not the hydro ZC tranny uses a midshaft?

See here's what needs to be remembered:

The ZC-equipped older cable Civics/CRXs were at one time the top of the line Civic/CRX. This means that they would be equipped with thoughtful things such as torque-steer reducing midshaft/axle combos, BUT:

The ZC-equipped 1992-up Civic wasn't top of the line. It was some weird-*** Anniversary model built from spare parts, so it's not too unlikely that the tranny could be the same tranny as the 1992-1995 D16Z6-equipped Civics - the ones that utilize unequal length axles.

So there is no bottom line yet because there's no indisputable proof from either opinion.
