Default 270hp/185trq GSR motor :O

Well...I've always wondered if there were crate Honda motors. After searching for months, I found one. I'm working out a deal for "The Beast" as we speak. Here's the specs:

84mm bore
89mm stroke
140.8 rod lenght
11.5:1 compression

BHP: 270@7800rpms
Trq: 185@6000rpms

Horsepower/Torque ratings are taken with OEM GSR header, intake, and exhaust. I'm not sure about the IM though.

Internals:
Dart block: closed deck
Gsport Pro rods from Oliver Racing
Gsport Pro pistons from WISECO
Gsport Pro spec crank
Gsport spec cams
Host of Mr. Gasket gaskets

Price: Still working on it.

I'm hoping to have it in by Fall '04. I'm told with a Comptech intake, Bisimoto headers, true 2.5" Magnaflow exhaust, Toda Sports Injection system, and a Skunk2(if it include a OEM GSR IM), and Hondata; that I should be able to get the 300hp mark N/A So, with the "The Beast" motor, and a 50shot, I should be ready to rock and roll!

I can get you more info if anyone is interested. BTW, it was one of the "Best New Products" at the 2004 Sema show

sounds kool!

On a side note, to me a using a dart block for all motor, is a waste to me. Just my opinion though. With the right internals that thing could produce double the HP.

Yea...I'm sure there are upgrades for it, but I highly doubt you could double 270. Erick Aguilar has ~350 on his Civic...and he runs in te 9's. If you could get 500+hp N/A, that would rule. But the costs for that would be astronimical!

A friend of mine called them with a few questions in July, as soon as he asked the price he hung up the phone...$12,000+.

That falls straight into the REDICULOUS catigory.

Just buy an assembled motor from one of the MANY awesome sellers on H-T.

Who are you getting "the beast" from anyway?

I can't use FI on this motor. Its made specificaly for N/A.

Like I said, I'm working on a deal. 10-12k is insane, but if you think about it, a bare Dart block alone costs the same as a GSR swap; add in the parts and labor, and it adds up quickly!

Hey guy i might be abler to get these between 11-12k for the customer, Gsport makes them, a Mr Gasket company, they come with a 1year/12000 mile warranty. They have hefty prices but the badass engine with a warranty, just might be worth it.. if you got the money laying around...

Might be worth it if it had a 10 yr, 200,000 mile warranty

Wow...obvously you cant use FI on this motor....but if you have a dart block built up for boost, its going to kick this things *** anyday...thats the whole point ive been trying to convey.

12000 mile warranty with a 12000 price tag just doesnt seem worth it to me.

Seeing as $12k buys you a top of the line Merlin BBC with 700hp and 570tq, I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that Honda **** is incredibly overpriced and you could probably get the same results for half the price or less by doing it yourself. This engine has been out for a while and it's nothing special compared to some of the Import Builders blocks...just a suggestion.

that's a HUGE waste.

just buy a complete swap, get the block built, and have a BETTER engine than that piece, for less money.

the 270/185 will NEVER show up to the ground either

Consider the fact that Honda b-series blocks are becomming harder to find these days, those Dart blocks are coo because if you think about it the block is already built already. Sure it costs a pretty penny but look what you get from a dart block. If I heard right those blocks are practically built internally from Dart, so bascially dart has done all the internal work for you. Basically I think these Dart blocks save you a ton of money in the long run. Just my .02

I spent $6,000 on GSR motor, turbo and got 270whp 174 tourqe TO THE WHEELS!!. Low 13's all day.

Screw $12,000 for an N/A motor.

I wouldn't call that a GSR motor. The only GSR things I see are the head and the manifolds. There is nothing GSR about that block.

12 grand is outrageous and a waste of money for NA. i love na but i wouldn't spend 12 g's on a motor already built for me

Just a few clarifications:

1) I would not be spending near 12k for "The Beast"

2) I wouldn't be using a Skunk2 IM....thats what they has when it was dyno'ed...I would be using the Toda Sports Injection(ITB's).

3) A 1yr, 12k warrenty is awesome. Can someone find me a shop that warrenties their motor for a year?

4) I've talked to InlinePro(reputable shop), and their pricing for a fully built N/A motor is about the same. They have a 30 day warrenty. Their ~12k setup would get me into low 12's...and have hp/trq around 250 or so.

Anyway....just thinking
