i just baught a b18c1 motor and i was planning to boost atleast 8-10 lbs , but my compression came out 245 on all 4 cylinders, is that to high to boost or should i go lower? if so whats a good low comp to go on.

compression tester does not tell ur compression ratio. a gsr is on the high side but it is possible to boost but not high boost on PUMP GAS. if u wanna run pump gas and high boost id recommend getting lower compression pistons.

Those numbers dont tell us the compression ratio of the engine.

What they do tell us is you have good compression and a healthy motor. Boost away, just insure you get a good tune.

Gsr's are great engines to boost, My friend has been on 10psi ( forgot turbo size) on a all stock motor for 2 years without any issues.

The turbo size is very important!

Stock GSR's should register 240-250psi on a compression test if they are healthy. That is also what is suggesting stock CR. Go ahead and boost it, but getting it tuned is more important. Rather then saying 8-10psi what are your HP goals?

you can boost anything.

-the boost you run and the resulting combination of cylinder temperatures and pressure kill things.

-knock kills things.. caused by surpassing the available fuel's octane rating or by..

-the tuning, or lack there-of, which causes detonation (knock) or high cylinder temps and pressures, which kills things.

as for your stock gsr.. there are literally volumes of books dedicated to such a simple question. but to keep things short i'd get a competent fuel system and cooling system, a turbo system with some intelligence behind it's engineering, and some good old grade-a tuning and as long as you don't get boost happy.. i doubt you'll ever have a problem.
