205/55/16 Falken Azenis tires be right for my 99-00 civic coupe?
I was planning on buying 16" rims and i wanted to wrapped them on some 205/55/16 Falken Azenis. And i was wondering shouldnt it by lyke 45 instead of 55? Because I had 205/50/15 on 15" rims. I don't get it

I had 16 / 45 / 205 and 16/ 50/ 205 before I went down to 15's.
The 45's fit perfect, but when I bought bigger seires tires(50's) I had a lot of problems with rubbing.
My boy liked the 16 / 45 / 205 setup so much thats what he went and got, rota slipstreams on neogen rubber.

the second number is called the aspect ratio: its the diameter of the sidewall (in mm) expressed as a percentage of the first number.
so the sidewall diameters are:
205/55/16 = (205*0.55)=112.75mm
205/45/16 = (205*0.45)=92.25mm
205/50/15 = (205*0.50)=102.5mm
also 1"=25.4mm
15" rim = (15*25.4)=381mm
16" rim = (16*25.4)=406.4mm
total diameter of your old tire (there is "2 sidewalls"):
(102.55*2)+381=586.1
totals for 16"
205/55: (112.75*2)+406.4=631.9
205/45: (92.25*2)+406.4=590.9
differences:
205/55: (631.9-586.1)=45.8mm greater diameter
205/45: (590.9-586.1)=4.8mm greater diameter

how wide is your rim? 215 fits nicely on a 7" wide rim, but 215/45 is gonna be taller, because of the aspect ratio.
