Re: (Vero)
There are 20 01+ Civics that I can think of running in the 13's and a few in the 12's so far, and there are two decent turbo kits out right now.
They're not as easy or as cheap to modify as the previous generation, but get better gas mileage and still respond well to mods. Cheaper insurance as well.
My turbo kit with just an additional injector setup (no standalone, no way to change ignition timing either) got me to 225whp at only 10psi, there's two more running the e-manage and getting 250hp and 275hp off of the stock motors.
The only thing wrong with the 01+ Civic for modifications is that the car has not been out as long, so there are not as many parts available yet. The parts that are out, work just as well as those parts for the previous generations.

not DX's.
The EX still maintains a modifiable motor.
Eitherway he asked about what we thought, I thought the DX's stock arnt good performers.

Re: 2005 civic (brkdwn5)
My whole intention for the car is just a daily driver. Work and back, and whatever else. No plans on heavy tuning.

If that is all you want, you can't get a better Honda for commuting unless you consider the Hybrid. I averaged 35+ mpg on mine before boost, and I've heard the DX motors get even better gas mileage. And even with boost and road course track days, I've had very few things break on my car in the 3 years I've had it.

Plus... down the line, if for some reason you really want it to go fast and you have the cash, you could always drop in a built K20 or K24 and bOOst!

That is of course commuting to work, mostly highway, but even if I was doing all city street driving, stop and go, it very rarely went below 30mpg.
I agree with eg64u... I love the OEM body kits on the 01+. I've got it on mine, and the 04 and up changed it some, still looks damn good.
