2002 Civic Si HB....whos' gonna buy it?
just curious. I have a 2000 Civic Si. I don't think I'm gonna trade mine in for it.
Maybe a new 2003 RSX Type-R (if they bring it)or WRX STi....but I don't think I'll go for the new Si.

16.2 in the 1/4 mile? HAHA! That's downright FUNNY!
Honda really screwed up here. They saw droves of people buying up hatches, so they tried to make a hatchback to suit the demand.
Too bad the demand for hatches is based more on light weight and not JUST because it's a hatchback. For the MASSES coupes have always sold better. Those poor souls who buy the new TANK Si will be sorely dissappointed

i think hatches would sell a lot better in the u.s., just as much as they sell in europe.
if they brought over the audi s3, that would sell so well.
IF.....instead of the wagon....
they made the protege in a hatch, made the matrix in a hatch and the wrx in hatch they would all sell, since they are gearing these sales to the younger gen.
but its all about the sales of their other cars. making a hatch just as, or better than their more luxury cars would hurt sales for them.

the 2002 si is for people who like the ford focus and a mini van but that are in denial - the new hatch looks like a mini-mini van - And for F*** sake will honda ever put out an si that doesnt kill it self with its own weight - i dunno, nothing of hondas new body style's appeal to me - the EG style was the best body civic i think we'll ever see - my opinion

I'm gonna at least go test drive it. I have a feeling I'm not gonna like the new rally style shift **** though. But,,,we might end up liking it... doubt it.. but you never know.

honda is just doing what its good at, mainstream cars. I like the new SI, its not as fast as other cars, but if i wanted a fast car i would buy a mustang. I am glad honda made the si a hatch, it looks alot better than the block of wood coupe. If you bought one you could get a type-s motor for cheap since no one is swapping them yet.

at least give it a chance to come out first. i plan on gettin the new si. i admit that its ugly and heavy but wats wrong fellas. cant take the challenge. yall cant make a ugly and heavy car lighter and look better. i guess yall just aint got the skills. and tat 16.2 1/4 mile time is from a mag. those magazines do not drag those cars.

I still cannot believe the '02 Si is that slow. When I first read the comparison test in a magazine a couple of weeks ago, I was amazed on how slow and heavy the thing was. To note: it weighs more than a '02 RSX w/ standard seating (whatever that means).

i think i will just wait for the REAL Lancer to come out. that new Si just doesn't do anything for me. But the Lancer is just nice. But i probably won't be getting a new car anytime soon anyway.

I am going to go test drive it just to see what it is like. I know I will not buy it, becuase I do not want to buy another car right now. However, I will not pass judgement on a car that I have not driven. It might be a fun little car to toss around.

I will wait until I test drive it till I pass judgement. I don't think honda was aiming at a very sporty car when they designed it, but something to compete in a specific class, it's not like any of the new hatch/wagons coming out lately are fast.
I test drove the RSX type S, while I don't care for the exterior styling yet I really liked the inteior and the drive was great, very diff't from the DC2 gsr. It seemed more like a ride in my friends 3.2CL typeS, you don't realize how fast you are going unless you look at the speedo. Firm suspension in the turns, but you don't feel the road as much as I like, but the general public likes. So I just see Honda as responding to what the majority wants, can't hate them for that.

well....looks to me like honda is doing exactly whta theyre marketing reps want them to do...making mainstream cars. As much as all of us on here would love to see an amazing car that sacrifices some of the comforts for speed...they wont sell to a majority of the population. Even we see it here with the lack of enthusiasm for the H22 swap becuase it will eliminate power steering and a/c. But in my book, you get more respect if you take a slow car and make it fast, than just buying a fast car and keeping it that way (ex... 12 second civic vs 12 second Corvette)

Honestly.....the hatches are cool for when you are like 16-20 years old. Then ya just kinda grow out of the styling. I'm 26 and a professional......my Honda is gonna be a daily driver and I can't see myself getting outta hatch in my suit to work every morning......I'm waiting for the RSX-R!!!
Honda made a boo-boo with the new SI!! Just mah 2 cents!!
